Description This is somewhere in Sorrento in Italy long ago. I was walking in a small empty street. Suddenly I heard a thundering noise. A black funeral carriage with eight black horses came towards me in full speed. The coachman had ordinary simple clothes. As well as the footman who was laying at the back of the carriage and idle watching my photographing. When the carriage had gone I was all alone again. I waited a while for a procession of some kind with a lot of mourners. But nothing of that kind happened. If I was a film maker I would use this scene. For a royal person or perhaps for a maffioso king.

(Photographed with a Leica M4, Summicron 35 mm, film TriX)

You gave me permission to draw another picture of yours, but this is my new favorite now. Can I please use this as a reference for my scratch board drawing?

That is very beautiful, Call me a show off but when I go, I would love that carriage to take me to my final destination ! eight horses is unusual,
the most i have ever seen here in the uk was four, but maybe its different in sorrento, perhaps it was a practise run for the horses maybe ? or just a very rich person who wanted no morners, oh to have been there and seen it .... amazing

Yes, I was deeply impressed. I have read that Abraham Lincoln was the only Amercan president whose coffin was brought to the funeral in a carriage like this drawn by six black horses. So America could only manage six black horses!! Of course I would like to go in this way too. The carriage would have to take a tour around the town first.
