Unfortunately, backgrounds like everything else when it comes to drawing can be a pain in the ass... cause if you wanna it to look good you have to spend a lot of time on it (I don't mean this one is bad, it's just a way of saying that backgrounds are just another element in the drawing that consumes time not just being drawn, but also learning how to make them takes time and it suks :V) Here I found some tuts: 1 2 3 4 5 by Thomas Romain But idk if that's what you are looking for... Irshad Karim has some good stuff too, but can get quite technical. Matt Kohr has some more approachable videos on his gallery under the section "7) Perspective"
In my opinion backgrounds are really hard cause they are all about perspective... and perspective is a bitch lemme tell you :T

I need a good tutorial too. BGs are my weakness as well. Only thing I do is stare at reference for ages... doesn't help much though.
