While Vegeta may love Trunks as much as Bra, he is unwilling to show it because Trunks is his son. It's a guy thing, Father-Son deal, and Trunks would understand. That hug he gave Trunks before dying, I am certain, is the only true affection he has ever or would ever show. Just my two cents.
