Description
This is a study (copy) of one of the great Joshua Reynold's beautiful paintings. It is far from perfect, but I feel and certainly hope I learnt a few things about light, reflection, clothing fabrics and so on with this.I've wanted to do a study of a classic painting for a long time; and last night I was watching "The Duchess" and really wanted to paint her (Georgiana). She was such an inspirational woman, and the movie about her is heartbreaking. I feel like when I paint a portrait of someone, I get a little closer to them while trying to depict their emotions up close.
