Description I know, its a little late for Mother's Day but I guess I could have not posted it instead

Anyway, everyone's favorite southern belle, Rogue, spends a little quality time entertaining her foster mother, Mystique. Hopefully Mystique survives the experience! This was a fun one to do.

Rogue and Mystique belong to Marvel Comics.

If she was smart, she'd use her powers to transform her feet into hooves.

Also, thanks for going with the traditional looks of both characters.Β  Rogue is not a tween emo, and Mystique doesn't need to look like me when I get out of the shower and haven't dried my hair.

Amazing as ever, Sandie. Rogue is one of my favourites [that accent tho] and I love that she's barefoot too. Maybe she wants to dish out some footsie tickles later ... Or maybe she wants a go afterwards. If she can't be touched usually, you'd think she'd like tickling just because it's a non-painful sensation.

I have an old X-Men anthology book from around 25 years ago. In one story it mentioned how Rogue liked walking barefoot on grass because she enjoyed how it tickled her feet. As if I needed another reason to love her! 😍

Sorry to interrupt the conversation, but was it one of the prose anthologies that came out in the 90s or a comic?

πŸ‘: 1 ⏩: 1

sandrock74 In reply to herbsmall [2019-05-26 20:24:04 +0000 UTC]

Yes, it was the X-Men anthology book that was released back then. I still have it sitting on my bookshelf along with the Super Villains one.

Thanks for answering my question. That was right after I got out of college (or may have still been in college) so I wasn't able to get many of them when they came out. I only got the Spider-Man and Super-villains one. I added the Hulk one later, Maybe I need to check out that X-Men book.

I guess there is more room to mention "feet stuff" in prose. If you've ever read Modesty Blaise, I don't recall there being any mentions of feet in the comic strip, although her feet are shown a lot. There are some pretty loving descriptions of her feet in the prose novels, including one where she gets a foot massage. I wonder if her creator had a foot fetish.

When I was a teenager, I always wanted that poster where Storm, Rogue and Kitty were by the pool, but I knew my mom wouldn't buy that for me. Rogue had heels on, though. Who wears heels by the pool?

I wanted it for Storm's bare feet. She was my favorite X-Men. I also liked that her feet were right up there in Rogue's face. Looking back on it now, the artwork isn't really that good. Would it have killed Marvel to get John Byrne, Dave Cockrum or Paul Smith to have drawn it?Β

sandrock74 In reply to herbsmall [2019-05-27 15:24:54 +0000 UTC]

Huh. I don't think I've ever seen that one before. Talk about a discovery!

I think Dave Cockrum was one of the artists who drew ladies feet well. At least he always did when drawing Mantis in issues of the Avengers he worked on in the 70's. Most artists who drew her usually did a half-assed job at best on the fact that she was a barefoot heroine, but Cockrum tool the time to actually draw her barefoot. All of her flying kicks with her "sole focus"...

I think Rogue's rebel flag towel would be considered "too controversial" nowadays; as clearly that must mean she's in favor of slavery or something. LOL! In all seriousness about Rogue, I see she was still in what I call her "middle age housewife" phase from her early days. She got clearly de-aged once she proved popular with the fans. I mean, she's only 2-3 older than Kitty but you'd never know that looking at the issues of the X-Men from the time!

I do like Storm's carefree pose as she relaxes in the air! I'm still not crazy about her Mohawk look but depending on where you sat, imagine the view you'd have.

I don't think the Aladdin Effect was ever followed up on. Weird that a story with the "naughty" stuff had that little kid as the MacGuffin.Β

I didn't live near a comic shop, but a used book store in town occasionally had old comics. I got a Giant-Sized Avengers that had Kang/Rama Tut on the cover and featured Mantis. Loved her barefoot costume but wasn't crazy about the character and was totally confused since I hadn't read the issues leading into it. Now I can.Β Β Like you, I loved that she was barefoot, though. That made me cut her a little slack.

I really wanted to buy She-Hulk back when I was a kid, because she was always barefoot, but knew my mom wouldn't get them for me.Β

The Sensational She-Hulk issues were almost porn for anyone who wanted the She-Hulk to go barefoot! Especially the Byrne issues, as she almost always had her soles showing in each issue.

I had sold most of my collection before moving a couple of years back but I did purchase Byrne's run on the Sensational She-Hulk in two trade volumes, so I have them back. With also picking up the Marvel Epic Collections, I really streamlined my collection!

herbsmall In reply to sandrock74 [2019-05-28 22:43:10 +0000 UTC]

Yeah, I pretty much lost my lust for Storm once she adopted the mohawk. Don't hold me to this, but I think the first X-Men I ever bought was the one that had Cockrum's barefoot Storm cover with Storm barefoot on the inside by Byrne. I always liked Byrne's barefoot drawings, too, especially of She-Hulk. Another favorite of mine as a kid was the Aladdin Effect graphic novel. Storm, Wasp and Tigra were all barefoot, and, since the novel didn't have to be approved by the comics code, all three plus She-Hulk had nipple pokies on some of the drawings. Boy, that was a huge thrill for a young comics nerd in his early teens.

I think I told you, but my favorite barefoot superhero picture was from a Wonder Woman coloring book. As often as Wonder Woman was barefoot in the golden age, I really wish she had a "good girl" artist instead of the more cartoony H.G. Peter. I've thumbed through the third golden age omnibus but I haven't read it yet. There is one panel where it looks like Wonder Woman is playing with another woman's bare feet. There were some barefoot stories after Marston died, so Peter may have been the one with the fetish. Wonder Woman never went barefoot once Ross Andru took over.

I haven't read many Mantis issues of the Avengers so far. I've gotten the fourth omnibus and one of the epic collections with her in it recently, and I've also bought some 70s back issues of the Avengers with her.

The Aladdin Effect! I still have that graphic novel! I haven't read that in...geez, probably 25 years. That brings back memories! I do remember how most of the ladies were barefoot in it. I was pretty young when I got it; not even in high school yet, I think. That did feel like a "naughty" kind of comic story to have way back then. If memory serves, it ended with a cliffhanger of sorts, about Storm suggesting that the young girl in it attend Xavier's school and then she never appeared again.

I was never overly wild about Mantis myself, however, Xodlirv loved her. He was a few years older than me, so he read those issues in real time, whereas she was done and gone by the time I was reading the Avengers, so that may have something to do with it. In the comics, she's NOTHING like in the movies. Still, since her overarching story involved Kang, that made her interesting. She does get commended for her barefoot costume

I love the look on Rogue's face. The sly smile and the position of her eyes. She's clearly checking out Mystique's pretty blue feet while indulging herself.

I don't know if it was your call or the commissioner's but I appreciate you getting Rogue out of her shoes, too. Just because she's not the tickle victims is no reason she shouldn't show off her pretty feet.

I'm also glad I'm not the only person to commission a blue-footed beauty from you.Β
