Description This is one that I never showed here until now. I actually completed modelling this over a year ago. But I knew that I wanted to upgrade the Freedom so I waited until I did that before I went back to this one. I was never really happy with the original design for one big reason: that giant backpack has a nice set of thrusters that only point in 1 direction. Great boosting ability but even with the side verniers, it's dodging ability wouldn't be that great. To change that, I've modelled a Backpack management assembly that fits between the Providence's back and Dragoon backpack. With the extra joints, the backpack is now about 3 meters away from the suit (to keep both of them cool), and also capable of 360degree rotation plus some "back and forth" rotation to force the providence's thrust forward and down or backward and up. This also means I can pose the dragoon backpack inot whatever position I want. This might be a big assumption for the engineers if they ever decide to MG'ify the plastic model, but it is an idea that I thought would work. Incidently, this problem is partially solved in the Legend Gundam.

Sooooo. Anyway, Freedom needs an enemy to fight for the planned animation, so here it is, much cleaner than a year ago. As a note, despite what might be assumed by comparing this image with the Freedom image, the Providence's height from toe to "head" is higher than Freedoms.

Software: Lightwave 8.3 (modelling/ rendering), Macromedia Freehand (logos).

Gundam is (c) Banda/Sunrise/Sotsu Agency.

You have my approval.

Though I wonder at your worry of the suit dodging. If not for Kira's retarded plot armor, he'd have been dead several dozen times over in just a few seconds. Hell, even with the METEOR, Providence still had more guns!

The 2 Providence Gundams possess the largest number of Beam Guns in Gundam Franchise HISTORY*, 43 to be exact.
Not even some of the more grandiose Mobile Armors come close.

This Gundam was designed with the "I Am Legion" mindset. It literally possesses a battalions worth of firepower by itself.

Believe me when I say that your opponent(s) would be the ones dodging, assuming they ever really got the chance.
No-one would live long enough to even shoot BACK*, much less make you worry about dodging.

Things truly get degenerate however, when you realize that this thing was equipped with the "HIMAT" Full-Burst Mode!

Kira could take out anywhere from 5-10 on average with the Freedom, Strike Freedom was about the same in atmosphere, significantly more in space, 10-20 would be a fair assessment. And that's with 5 and 9 guns respectively.

Providence had FORTY-THREE!

The Providence is so epic, it just has an enormous presence the says: "You are screwed."

I mean when you spend precious seconds to give an "All Your Nukes Are Belong To Us" speech before you even start the Gundam up, you know you're too overzealous for your own good.

Wow. The adustment to Providence's backpack is genius. Not only can it use its most powerful thrusters to move, in atmosphere, it could spin its backpack while firing the dragoons and create a rather large killzone.

I'll admit, I don't really like providence, but this thing could possibly change my mind. Loved your Legend gundam, too.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

sandrum In reply to Ride-the-lightning10 [2007-06-20 02:24:18 +0000 UTC]

...one of the predecessors actually. After the Providence, the Providence-Zaku was developed which is basically a Zaku with a LEGEND dragoon backpack (despite the name). After this the Legend Gundam is rolled out.

Awsome! but I would hateto pilot it in an atmosphere, not very arodynamic and way too heavy withch brings up mass and velocity issues... Still, nice try but, "Every solution brings ten more problems."

The-Vash In reply to VincentFaust9 [2008-12-10 10:27:21 +0000 UTC]

...Close but wrong Gundam. This is the ZGMF-X13A Providence piloted by Rau Le Cruset in the original Gundam SEED series (Ep. 49 & 50). The ZGMF-X666S Legend was in the sequel series Gundam SEED Destiny and piloted by Rey Za Burrel... who is technically ALSO Rau Le Cruset only younger (Rau & Rey are "defective" clones of the exact same host). Hope that clears that up.

Absolutely fantastic work here! The Providence looks much more heroic with the lighter gray color scheme than it's appearance in the show, but it's still one of my personal faves--I'm just in awe of your command of the program to render it like this!!!

I will be looking around your gallery for a good while; having finished Seed and getting into Destiny, I'm curious to see what else you can do (mmmmMacross?)

sandrum In reply to crybringer [2006-06-20 00:36:00 +0000 UTC]

Sweet! I'm elated that there are others that like the Providence as well, despite it's somewhat unconventional design. I thought of trying Macross long ago, but aircraft designs (mostly aircraft that resembles actually existing craft) are kind of troublesome to me. Maybe in the future. Ah, thanks for looking!!

crybringer In reply to sandrum [2006-06-20 03:26:10 +0000 UTC]

It was hilarious that the one who introduced me to Seed, who LOVES remote/funnel weapons on Gundams, HATES the Providence! I thought it was just a mean mean machine and that dark gray just made it so menacing!

I'll skip the typical questions and ask, from looking around your gallery, it sounds like you're involved in an animation project of some kind? How's that going?

You are right! I'm working on a few animations, though at the moment I'm trying to get enough suits together to pull it off. Need things to explode in the background
