respect for one's identity doesn't have to be earned. aromantic people (and people of any other identity in the GRSM-community) shouldn't need to do anything for people to respect their identities as they are. it's no one's business but their own what they identify as, and so if they say that they are aromantic, people should just respect that and move on instead of start debating whether or not their identity is real or literally anything else obnoxious like that.

what? they're not even close! pansexual is sexual attraction to anyone regardless of gender, aromantic is romantic attraction to no genders. honestly, i find the whole "identity made up to feel special" -argument very ridiculous. everyone has their own identity, and everyone wants to know their identity and describe it truthfully. if they (or anyone else) were to describe their identity with words that weren't actually right for them, they would get anxious about it. why would someone describe themselves as something that they actually aren't? that's not a real thing, bud. there are real people out there who simply just do not experience any romantic attraction, and their identities must be noticed, not ignored.
