Description
A cute pair of characters that wandered into my head one day. The bat-girl doesn't have a name yet (I think she should be named after a tropical flower, like a plumeria or something). The boy's name is Mark...or Marco...or possibly Phillip (but not Phil). ...Let's call him Marc Phillips.

Anyway, Marc visits his grandparents every summer, either in Costa Rica or the Philippines, I can't decide which. And ever since he was eight (he's like...fifteen?), he's been friends with one of the locals.

Who just happens to have wings for arms.

She's a bit clumsy, but she's very friendly and rather smart about rainforest things. Thanks to the fact that humans tend to FREAK OUT when they see bat-people (Marc jokingly calls her a "chiropterror", a pun on the Latin name for bats), she hasn't had a chance to learn much about cities or foreign countries, or even non-rainforest foods.

Like canned peaches, which she now loves.

Their relationship is totally platonic, and they tend to see each other as more like siblings. This of course doesn't stop the other bat-people from making fun of the girl when she goes home (friendships with humans are not unheard of to them, but none of the humans know that there are any other people besides them who know of the bat-people). Marc's grandfather jokes that he's in love with the trees, because he's always sneaking out into the forest.

She can fly perfectly fine on her own (she needs a name so I can stop calling her "she"), but Marc is too heavy for her to carry. She can glide well enough carrying him (jumping off waterfalls? Oh yes, they do that), but true flight is out of the question.
