Luna come to me tonight
I am a prisoner
Luna glide down from the moon
The clouds are all silver and black
Floating around me
Luna come into my eyes
Luna surround me
With black and yellow pools of light
Fall by my window
Luna come to me tonight

Oh my, Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers… that brings back some good memories. I'd never heard his Luna song, I checked it out on YouTube, very nice. Many thanks for connecting Tom's poignant lyrics to my little moth.

...yes - well .. I'm overcoming some of my own prejudices - in the past I bypassed lots of artists who used stock images to assemble their pictures ....and in truth I still don't care for most who do this ..( although I certainly admire the great skill it takes to integrate these borrowed images ) --- however the results often looked forced , hard and unatural ..... but! ... 'some' people just add in their own personal stamp ... and do it so well - that the end result becomes their own ...and you , in my very humble opinion , have done this very well indeed ...so I take my ( baseball ) cap off to you ( don't ask ! ) ....OK ...I'll fold up my soap box now -- and toddle on

saperlipop In reply to DouglasHumphries [2011-01-15 03:50:41 +0000 UTC]

I have little talent when it comes to traditional art and photography. Photoshop and stock providers opened up a magical opportunity for me to take some of the images buzzing around in my head and turn them into actual pictures. This is a good thing since my brain is less cluttered and now has room for thinking about important things like… well… stuff…

I have great admiration for artists like you who use their own images to create unique and thought-provoking art. I'm envious but in a gentle way…I'm flattered that you like my work enough to take your baseball cap off to me, thank you! And now I'll toddle off with a happily inflated ego

.... everyone has their own method of creating ...and everybody borrows from others in some way or another ... the method isn't so important if the end result makes a unique personal statement ...and you certainly have much talent - that I envy ... I just have my own way of working that is comfortable for me ...... the way you use stock images - and the way you arrange them ( with your personal methods to make them harmonious ) ... make the end result your 'own' as far as I am concerned ...and there's a little 'magic' in there somewhere !

A few years ago I came across an art book about Joseph Cornell in the library of the university where I was working as an administrative assistant. I was supposed to be getting mechanical engineering books for my employer, but I was so fascinated with Cornell's work that I spent much time poring over his images. I forgot about getting the engineering books. Got into trouble with my boss, but it was well worth it… Viewing your art I feel the same kind of fascination. Your end results are unique, with your own special brand of whimsy and imagination. You've got some powerful mojo going, Wizard Douglas

...you sure you got the right fella ?? ...but yes - I do have a book on Mr Cornell - titled 'Navigating The Imagination " ..... but your story is quite fascinating - Cornell put you in some kind of dream state that cancelled out your 'logical' brain ...and , I take it - you've never been the same since ..( nor has your boss apparently who probably implicitly trusted you to bring home the bacon , so to speak ) ...if you see anything of Cornell in my stuff I am certainly happy about that ..... oh jeez...yeah ...call me mr wizard ...lol ! ...... I'm just kind of hunting for my mojo of late ...hoping it will re-start ( comes in handy )
.....I see you've recovered from your 'CAPS' addiction .... but to be safe ...take two of these and I'll send you the bill on Monday .

I enticed my boss with my home-made roasted almond chocolate fudge, thus regaining his approval (and my paycheque, which was very helpful). Your mojo will never leave you… might take a little snooze from time to time, but will always return. Judging by your Discussion Will Be Limited, your mojo is doing very well indeed. Got a big grin out of me… love the tiny text and the big recessed 5…

…and now my five minutes are up, I'm off to take my

note: my logical brain is in a permanent state of cancellation...

..many thanks Madeleine ..( stay warm ! ). . . . I can't believe you would bribe your boss that way ! .... however I have the feeling you cook as well as you make art ..thanks for the encouragement ... ( I will never turn this sort of thing down ) .... we ( the royal we ) thank you for staying under the 5 minute limit ...you are a sport ....now take your sushi pills !
