Description Finally decided I'd jump in on the action and make my own personal species! I tried to think of what would interest anyone whose invested in the closed species community. Some like cute little themed adoptables, others like natural ones you'd actually find in the wild realistically and some just like to make pretty designs!
Note that everything listed in the species list up above it not extensive and if they pick up steam then I'll add more "do's and don'ts"
I say semi closed because I don't want to cut everyone off from them! MYO slots will be open unless it gets to be too much; But you have to run it through me first to make sure everything checks out
Not to mention you can't do anything above uncommon. The only way to get those is if you buy one from me in any way!
I may close them off at a later date or may just leave them entirely open. Regardless, I hope to make adoptables for them!! <3

Species Overview
Quillies are bird like, raptor creatures that vary largely in size. Anywhere from only a foot tall when full grown to as tall as about 5 feet even
Honestly, easily domesticated animals due to their more docile nature. Ranging anywhere from dimwitted to extremely intelligent depending on what exactly they're bred to be like.
Quillies are primarily herbivores and scavengers for what meat they do ingest, as they don't have any major way to hunt things, very few being graced with talons. Those with large more eagle like talons can hunt fish in rivers but that's it.
As mentioned, they have more raptor anatomy and are quite top heavy! Because of this they always have long tails, for if they didn't they'd be constantly falling over on their face. Wide ribcages and, depending on the breed of course, strong back legs plus their wings and more aerodynamic design make them excellent runners.

Don't
Quillies never ever /ever/ have short tails. Because of how their anatomy works if their tail is any short than they are tall. They'd fall over on their face. The only way to get a small tail is if it was docked and even then those are only slightly available for domestic bred ones, whom of which are small and usually is the sign of an abusive owner since it's renders them unable to walk. Usually found in "purse" breeds
Quillies rarely ever have no eyes/their eyes always shut. Though it's a popular want in domestic breeds and is more accessible to them, it renders them unable to see which would get them killed in the wild. The only other ones that could function like that would be deep dwelling aquatic Quillies which as of right now not much is known
Quillies always have some form of wings, they never have no wings unless they've been bitten off, torn off or removed some way or another. Though they can survive in the wild if torn off without their wings. It is a huge hindered! Those born with deformed wings are usually abandoned at birth and have no chance at living unless a human comes along and rehabilitates or takes them in

Sub Species
Wild Quillies: Wild Quillies vary greatly in size, design and intelligence. Just because they are wild though doesn't mean they can't have a human companion! Most of the time these cuties have natural pelts, usually similar to other birds, animals or even just nature in general depending on their habitat. These ones don't usually get too big and mostly stay in the common and uncommon range. There can be multiples of a similar design (for instance, there are probably many harpy eagle related ones, markings vary but there are multiple)
Smaller wild Quillies can even fly, even those that aren't that small usually have larger wings then their other counterparts.
Domestic Quillies: Domestic Quillies just means that they have been bred by humans, depending on how it works out they can have anywhere from common traits to even illegal traits since we all know how humans are with pets. These ones usually have more vibrant pelts and feathers. Ranging anywhere from looking like other domestic birds and animals to having pelts based off of their favourite sweet or object! Some have even been bred to "cosplay" and look very similar to the character of choice. Can range anywhere from completely slow minded to extremely smart. Many are even used as service animals to help their human companions around the house and through their life
Aquatic Quillies: Exactly as the name states, these ones usually have developed smooth, water resistant feathers as well as gills and fins on them! These are the only ones to develop fishtails as well. Almost always they have webbed feet, Most have strong powerful wings that are more like a penguins or a ducks wings. While they can be domesticated these are more likely to be found in a zoo or other special home as they need a lot of water to live
Insect Quillies: These are Quillies that simply have developed more bug like senses and limbs. Originally a mutation there have been enough in existence now to make it it's own subspecies. Luckily most of these ones are a bit slow and never get above 2 feet. Exotic collectors and other big bug or even lizard fans usually take these ones in as pets for their more bizarre nature

Ears and Hair
Rarely ever do Quillies have any ears, just holes like normal birds
Often time, depending on design they can have feather crests on their head as another common trait
Rarely, and usually this is bred for, they can have any kind of mammalian ear, much like cats and dogs. While it doesn't hinder anything if they get in the wild, it's just not commonly seen
Gryphon or feather ears are wild occurring, but are quite rare and usually symbolize status, more often then not only males get the gryphon ears
Hair is not naturally occurring as these are feathery creatures! However there is a rare mutation that lets them have it. While again not hindering it's just not seen outside of domestic Quillies
Note, Rarely do insectoid and aquatic Quillies have any of this, as they're much more smooth then feathery and usually is replaced by pincers or fins

Wings and Tails
Depending on the kind of Quillie you'll see other traits. By and far most have feathery wings. Very rarely do they develop bat wings and usually imply a more mischievous or dark minded Quillie, though a docile species, usually these ones are rumored to be almost harbingers or imps to humans, but that's mostly a bad rep
Some develop more insectoid wings! These are only found on insect Quillies, can be anywhere from beetle wings to dragonfly wings to even beautiful butterfly wings. Never are they born without them though
All Quillies have very long tails that are wider at the base and taper at the end. Some are thicker then others and this is a common occurrence and doesn't effect anything besides one may be heavier then another.
Some grow featherless or furless tails. Others get puff balls or long fur at the end of their tails similar to a horse or even a poodle.
Some get "demon" pointed tails but again that's found only in domestic as it's a bred trait not found int he wild except as a mutation
Only aquatic Quillies can get "mermaid" tails and rarely ever are they feathery
