Moon moths live... on the Moon. How they ended up there is unknown, but the astronauts probably brought them there as pets. But the astronauts died, but the animals remained, and now the Moon belongs entirely to them.
Fortunately, they have developed a complex internal system that allows them to rely on air and rely on solar radiation, which they collect using their large wings. Their fur is so dense and thick that lunar dust has no effect on it, thanks to which they can safely rummage through the lunar soil and study it. Not long ago they found signs of water there - and now this is their main interest. People left them enough scientific equipment, so they don’t get bored there, one might say)
