Can you make one doing the opposite? Turning a dress white? Please.

Hello seems like a good idea. I will let you know here because it's very simple, I've tried it once and worked perfectly.

Create a Hue/Saturation adjustment layer and bring the saturation to -100, duplicate this layer and convert the blending mode to screen, keep duplicating the screen layer until your dress turns white; this depends on its original colour. Remember to mask all layers to the layer of the dress.

I hope I helped! Let me know if you faced any problems concerning this.

Not all the people like to share..In fact, very few people like to share..
I personally don't understand how someone can get any pleasure of anything,if they don't share....

most people don't share as often this is a profession for alot of artists and it is what pays the bills.
often tricks and techniques are what help some artists get jobs ahead of others.

other artists that are in debt because of going to art or digital schools related to fasion or cg know its a cut throat business so its who get more wins.
i know cause i was in that ship. long long ago

This is great! I am constantly changing the color of the model's dresses in my photomanips. I will have to figure out how to transcribe this to GIMP. Thank you for providing this tutorial!

I can usually translate PS to Gimp and when PS has a feature that Gimp doesn't (or vice versa) I can similate it pretty good!

BoMuffin [2012-04-17 15:42:44 +0000 UTC]

How do you cut the dress to a single layer? Surely the selection tool or whatever would bake a mistake along the way, then i would be turning the skin to that colour too, and it'll probably be obvious its Photoshopped. This technique would probably be impossible to use on a photo, although a CG drawn image would already have everything separate in its own layers, so that would be a piece of pie :/

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

sara-hel In reply to BoMuffin [2012-04-17 15:59:53 +0000 UTC]

I usually cut with the pen tool..As for the image obvious as photoshopped i don't know if you've seen the result of this image, because it doesn't seem unnatural..Also If you're a photoshop pro you would know that anything cut can be fixed later on, it's not a big deal

nice, but the thing is it won't be no tones unlike the original one!

sara-hel In reply to Ahmed-R-Shalaby [2012-03-16 18:19:00 +0000 UTC]

Sure because this is black, the darkest color, but you can still play around with the curves
