*fave'd* ... Your intense attention to detail, from the monster's teeth to the light on the merman's scales to the schools of fish around them, makes me feel immersed β literally! β in this deep-sea battle.
I'm surprised that more such works don't show off the fighting qualities and well-made musculature that mermen would have, given the many enemies they'd have to encounter. And, for that matter, the sheer mass of the water they would be pushing aside to travel.
Few of the females are much more than pin-ups, either. This ought, for me, to be a far fiercer undersea race, in both genders.
