"They'll rip you to shreds, but I will put you back together."
The first incarnation of Rolf the Wolf. This character first made his debut sometime in early 1983, being a new addition to Fredbear & Friends. More specifically, he was put centerstage and made to be the drummer of Freddy's band. He was a last second edition, a desperate hope to give new life to a then dying show. Rolf the Wolf was specially designed to target older audiences like teens and young adults with his tough persona and typically heavier music. Although he debuted with some success, his dreams of performing were soon shattered after the horrific Bite of '83 incident, which caused Fredbear's Family Diner to shut down almost immediately.
Despite his mostly positive reception to the public, he quite frankly had the opposite perception in the company. While still being a new animatronic, Rolf was already causing problems for Fazbear Entertainment, Inc. This version of Rolf was directly involved in an incident that occurred before the infamous Bite of '83, but was easily swept under the rug. The circumstances of this occurrence are mostly lost to time, but what is known is that a night guard working at the establishment disappeared in the middle of the night and was supposedly never found. This is was the public heard. In reality, the man's remains were found, eerily intact, inside Rolf's suit.
Even after this, Rolf was still used for a short time. The company brushed off the death on their property, only doing as much as disposing of the body, then thoroughly cleaning and bleaching the now tainted animatronic. Not long after this, Fredbear's was struck with more and more misfortune, until it finally closed its doors for good. Following the shut down in early 1984, old Rolf the Wolf was left to rot there. In the meantime, he was prey to natural decay, vermin that infested the place, and trespassing vandals. While his former bandmates were eventually recovered, Rolf was abandoned due to him not being able to be located. Much like that former employee, Rolf seemed to disappear without a trace.
Until he eventually showed up in 1987, that is. In a surprising twist, the now withered animatronic was rediscovered in the remains of Fredbear's Family Diner. Although he was a husk of his former self, Rolf was moved to the newer location in the hopes his miraculously working parts could be used as spares. There was even a project to revitalized the old character and give him a new and improved 'Toy' version. Stained by a dark past, Rolf the Wolf was doomed to ultimately fail- Each and every time.
Perhaps some things are truly best left forgotten...
...Unless they refuse to be.
