The other day I was feeling kind of blah and wanted to do something fun and different. I found this frame at Michaels and I was thinking about mounting a hair bow inside it with some kind of decorative background. That lead me to think of this idea - taking a drawing of Sailormoon and giving her a real ribbon bow. I decided it would be fun to have the skirt be ribbon, too.It was pretty difficult for me to draw at this scale (much larger than my usual illustration), but I'm glad I stuck with it. I am going to go back in I think and add a few more gemstones because I don't really like the balance right now. Still, I'm pretty excited about how it came out and I hope I can get some more frames like this to at least do a few more of these.
I think I want to do Mars next if I keep going. The background is acyrlic paint and gemstones, then Sailor Moon is cut out colored pencil and ink. The bow and skirt are double sided silk ribbon and the brooch is clay. I think I will bring her to Anime Boston for the art show!
Incidentally, there is no Mixed Media category in Fan Art. I feel like this should be in Fan Art more than it should be in Mixed Media, so I'm going with "Drawings" even though I don't really think that says it all.
Have you guys seen the trailer (yes, trailer!) for the new Sailor Moon figure?! I can't WAIT. Preorder NEXT WEEK!

It would depend a lot on the character and which elements were drawn/ribbon

Just for kicks and giggles lets say....... Fi from the Legend of Zelda Skyward Sword. Mostly drawn. Just ribbon for her cape thingy. Lol. There's probably better choices but that's the first that popped into my head.

Hmmm I'd really have to think about that some. The cape doesn't really lend itself to the ribbon the same way the skirts or bows do. I'd probably have to work something else out for the fabric. Hmm hmm

Yeah, it was supposed to be out in summer but it was delayed for unknown reasons and is now scheduled for a winter release. It's a remake animated series being made in Japan that will be streamed online, hopefully with world wide access. There's also a new musical and a ton of new merch coming out, including some cute posable figures. :3

I loved Ouran Highschool Host Club! I haven't seen the other two. Actually, I really don't watch that much anime. I find that I'm doing lots of other things and sitting to watch a show isn't something I often choose to spend much time doing lately.

Aah. Well it depends if I'm in the mood, but yeah. OHHC was funny, Angel Beats was comedy and sad ending, and Chrono Crusade is action and sad ending. O.O My friend won't watch the ending since she doesn't want to cry.

If you have the time, I recommend it. It's only ~6 hours long so it's fairly low commitment. About episode 3 you will catch on why it's different; around episode 6/7 I wasn't sure I wanted to continue, but I'm glad I did

There's a little romance but it's not really central to the storyline. There's action, and death. It's definitely a magical girl show, but it's pretty dark for the genre.

I'm watching Sailor Moon on YT season 4 and whenever she says "I'm sailor moon" her lips aren't even moving.
