First and foremost, let me say that I enjoy this picture, as it caught my eye very quickly while perusing the site.
Secondly, I really like and appreciate the location of the focus, as I think (and believe most would agree) that that's often difficult to do when photographing animals. I also love the shape and color contrast of the whiskers against the fur. It's a very interesting angle, and I think a cool ingredient in the piece overall (if only a wee bit distracting).
As far as the criticism goes, I really only had two problems. The first struck me initially, and that's that the space on the left side of the photo was immediately distracting. The second issue that I had was that the focus of the portrait - the cat's eyes - while gorgeous, aren't as well contrasted from the rest of the colors as I'd like to see them. I really like this piece, first off. I think I would like to see it muted in color, save for the eyes. Your cat has these stunning eyes, but this picture, with all the gray tones going on really steals from those eyes. I'd make the cat's coat muted, maybe even a black and white or netural and really enhance those eyes. The whiskers make your eyes follow them, which isn't a bad thing because it makes the viewer follow the direction of the picture. I'm not sure what the light in the eyes is, but it really works for this piece. Overall really nice job, I like where the focus is, which is one of my pet peeves in animal shots.

What a lovely cat you have. First off, I would have made this black and white. I know it is not the most original with cat photos, but it would have helped you to create some contrast.
I do love his eyes, but I think they could pop a little more. Maybe by choosing a different angle, you could have helped it. I also think the overall composition is not bad. Just the spot on the left, with the background, is a little distracting.
I don't think it is a bad image, I just have seen better images by you.

While I'm a cat lover, making this already a cute favourite, i'll definitely point out a reason or two that made it look good, and where it did not.
On the upside, the crop was well done, having had good vision of what you wanted and going in tight to remove any distracting background. The focus was spot on as well, and i had a good clear view of the face without fidgiting as i would when i see pictures without its focus on the eyes or at the very least, the face.
However, as i'm assuming this wasn't processed after its shot was taken on the digital camera, You can still see that there's much to be desired based on the exposure and contrast.
What I'd suggest you could do would be to run this through photoshop and if you're familiar with levels or curves, to tighten the white and black toggles to bring in the contrast so the picture won't be so misty, so to speak.
Overall, the picture can most definitely be improved on, but otherwise, you can be sure to say that you've won my heart over with the cute cat!

This reminds me a lot of my Coon, but he has more gray to his face. The lighting is quite good. It makes the eyes and white of the snout pop.
