Finally finished 7. Heaven. Tried my hand at a somewhat more environment concentrated art for the first time. I'm not really good at backgrounds so I apoligise ;A;
So this is Red Night series' version of 'HEAVEN' or basically just the "stairway to heaven" huehuehuehuehuehueheueheu
Ummmm I guess it's pretty obvious who those 2 characters are going to Heaven are. But I wont say anymore >w<
The best part about this challenge is trying out different things. I went back to photoshop to draw this, well for the background anyway. The 2 people were drawn on Sai first and the lineart and first block colours were done on Sai too.
Infact I have requested a critique! Will anyone give me a good one please? I'd love to know how I could have done things better, like lighting tips? What photoshop brushes are good for environments? Any other flaws that can be helped? PLEASSEE I'd love help to improve!!

The stairs are beautiful done close to the 'camera' but are a bit off-center on the path that they rest on. Also on the stairs it looks like there's like a 'guide rail' on both sides, but it's more visible on the left and on the right it just disappears. On the left there are places that look as though they've been erased, but are not smooth.
The pillars in front are great, but being the closest object I'd add some blurr effect to them to show the effect of looking past them to the main point.
The character with the blue hair *who's name has escaped me* His anatomy looks great at a glance but upon looking closer it's fairly out of wack. It looks like his torso and arms are too long, and his neck and legs look too short.
As for that portal to Heaven *which is what I'm calling it XD* It's hard to tell if it is meant to be standing vertically or laying horizontally. As I said in my comment, I love the rainbow cracks, they're gorgeous, a little more glow to them may give more impact *not too much glow though* but they're really beautiful as they are now. The final thing is that the white center glow could use a tad bit of blurr to it so it doesn't look quite so sharp. All in all the drawing is absolutely gorgeous. I applaud you for this, it's beautiful.

yess I will definitely work on perspectives more! I found it so hard to draw Azure in that angle too, he's meant to be wearing these long sleeved robes and his longer hair here threw me right off!
I also had trouble with the point of view, where the artist is meant to look first too. Its meant to be Azure and Chi, then along the staircase and finally the portal but I see now that the portal is too "eye catching" here X'3 I need to use more blurs to my advantage

You are more than welcome! I have the same troubles, I think all artists do xD I heard that flipping the picture so it's backwards at different stages will help you notice mistakes, though I haven't tried it.
Well personally I looked at the characters first, but the way you do shading on people is just gorgeous and is my personal favorite style out of every one I watch xD

I think I saw a post on tumblr about the flipping the picture and it was really funny!! X'3 I should try that way more often, it will help a lot X3

;A; This is beyond words gorgeous. Mine has been put to shame xD But I never like my version, too lazily done really, I didn't do much, might remake it. I love how you drew the characters, and they really fit in with the background in terms of perspective and lighting and those rainbow cracks are to die for! So gorgeous ;w;

Thank you so much Shade! ^w^ I worked really hard on this one and it kept giving me art block. The little portal at the top kepy changing too. It was meant to be just light but it was too much and it was meant to be a gate too. I kind of gave up on making it cool though X3
