One Last Dance | Seijuro Akashi x Reader
Seijuro was placed at the front as he waited patiently for the doors to open. He kept his eyes and head forward. He closed his eyes for a minute or two as he let out a breath to stop himself from trembling. Slowly he opened his eyes and took a glance at his side. There his close friends stand as they talked animatedly with each other.
It’s as if someone heard his prayers, the grand organ started playing followed by the choir creating a beautiful harmony. The people in the area could not stop themselves from smiling as the elegant and nostalgic melody of Canon in D filled the room and reached their ears; a beautiful tune indeed for a wonderful day as this.
A minute in, the doors finally opened. The flower girls were the first ones to enter; their hands grabbed petals from their little baskets and soon the aisle was decorated with an assortment of flowers. The ring bearer followed; on the pillow he carried there laid two rings that would signify unity. Soon the bridesmaids walked through the aisle and would be followed by the relatives and wedding godparents.
And finally, the moment everybody was waiting for.
Clad in a white, the bride’s figure stood in pride as her parents on either side of her. She held her bouquet tightly, the flowers were arranged elegantly but something made it special from other bouquets after all it was the groom himself who picked the flowers.
Seijuro’s gaze lingered on her form as she slowly walked through the aisle. Halfway through, he closed his eyes once again for if he did not do so, he wouldn’t be able to hold his tears from falling. He then remembered the moment they’ve shared the week before.
A week before the wedding, he met with the bride at the reception hall in the night. The bride was finalizing everything for her big day.
“What is the bride doing here this late at night?” He asked, a small smile plastered on his face as adoration filled his eyes.
“I could ask the same to you, Sei” She answered, reciprocating his smile.
He chuckled as he walked to her side, “Well, I was searching for you before I go tomorrow.”
Her eyes showed obvious disappointment as she looked up at him. She raised her hand to grab the left sleeve of his brown cardigan.
“Do you really have to go?” she let out.
He smiled sadly as he raised his right hand to pat her head,
“I’m afraid so. There’s an emergency meeting at Europe” he sighed, “However, I do promise I’ll return just in time for the wedding”
“Duh” she laughed as she let go of his sleeve and pulled him to a hug to which he gladly reciprocated.
“Thanks for being my best friend Sei” she whispered on his chest.
He felt his lips curve into a smile as he held her tighter, “And I, you”
A moment of comfortable silence surrounded them as they shared a moment of peace.
Seijuro was the first to loosen his grip and the two separated from the embrace. Suddenly, Seijuro put a hand on his chest and the other was held in in front of her. He gave a small bow, his smile never wavering.
“May ask for one last dance?” He said, staring into her eyes.
“You’re so dramatic, Sei” She laughed as she accepted the hand he held out.
They danced throughout every space they could step on. The night ended with laughter as they held each other’s hands.
Once he opened his eyes again, she was in front of him. He couldn’t see her face clearly as her veil concealed, although not totally, the face he loves. He smiled at her before facing her parents who gave him a smile return. He raised his hand as her father passed his beloved’s hands to him.
Seijuro glanced at the bouquet of flowers his bride was holding. He remembered the day he picked them from his beloved late mother’s garden. He wanted to at least have a something of his mother present this special day.
He held onto his bride’s hands tightly yet lovingly as he led her to the altar.
The ceremony commenced with no issue. A few drops of tears here and there, laughter, and adoration; it was perfect for a day of union between two. As they pressed their lips together, the deal was sealed. Applause erupted from the crowd but the fun was far from over.
As soon as they arrived at the reception hall, the Maid of Honour and the Best Man did not waste time and immediately started the party.
“Everybody, it is now time for the newlywed couple to take the floor for their first dance as husband and wife!” the Maid of Honour announced as she gave a smile to the couple.
Seijurou was the first to stand up as put a hand on his chest and the other was held in in front of her. He gave a small bow to his wife, his smile never wavering.
“May I ask for our first dance as husband and wife, my dear?” He asked lovingly.
“You’re so dramatic, Sei” She laughed as she accepted the hand he held out.
He chuckled in response as he led her to the dance floor.
'I love you'
