I've tried taking lightning pics...I guess it's about location and timing (and not getting struck. ) They now have a gizmo that senses just when a bolt will appear so you can be ready to take the photo. Ain't that nifty? I think I'll just sit and enjoy the storm myself.

More like location. When You have good location (and it's dark) You just set camera to following settings: ISO 100, F/8.0 shutter: 30 second, and wait.

Thanks for the tip. I used to just set the shutter on high/repeat shutter to catch SOMEthing. Sometimes it worked. our storms are mostly within the clouds (just lit-up clouds) that aren't worth photographing.
