Hello, my name is Sarita's scanner and I am full of DUMB.
ANYWAY. There was this one time in art class when we were supposed to draw trees. And all my trees were turning out dumb so I just decided to do it without a ref and THIS happened. .____.

Oh, and btw, you never mentioned what your art teacher or classmates thought of your "tree." I'm curious.

Well, my teacher never saw it actually lol. I think some classmates saw it and they thought it was cool? I had the hardest time trying to convince some people it was just a still life of a tree. |D
It's weird. I can do the detail... dance... but only when I'm not looking at a ref. I was getting frustrated trying to draw real trees and so I just tried drawing some branches off the top of my head and this happened. XD Thanks.

Aw, too bad. That would've been interesting. XD Yeah, I find using refs difficult, too. I do better if I just look at lots of pictures of something (usually I use this with an animal) and try to...I don't know if it's the right word, but I kind of internalize what the body should be shaped like so that I can draw it from memory and just sort of feel when I'm doing it right. And then I check the pictures again if I forget something.

Well, I usually do use lots of refs when learning to draw new animals (like the big cats, if you remember) and try to commit the anatomy to memory. :/ But I do it like that now and then, memorizing pics. Or sometimes it just comes out and at least looks remotely like the animal. |D
