I portrayed Toa Ruunaja as rookie/student in the comic because I'd figure that Makuta Ruunaja would come to him when he is very young.

I also love the idea of not giving him his back-spikes. I guess you could say they got in the way a little. I should know, I made him! YEAH! Maybe they could come out of his back when he's in battle! Eh?

actually, in the comic Toa Ruunaja is suppose to be very young and doesn't get awesomer armor until he finishes his training. ^^
