Ay thanks! <3 They're a blast to do! Get to stretch the design muscles out of my usual areas and they're guilt free. I don't have to worry about making something I'd want to keep since they're as tied into the character's personality and backstory and existing world aesthetic as I can get them. And the commissioner gets to expand on it for their world all they want. Works out especially great for younger worldbuilders just getting started.

Only for the cut of the fabric and the way it's layered if that makes sense? As I mentioned to someone else the character is from a fantasy African tribe similar to the Maasai and Samburu in Kenya so the clothing type and and color scheme falls in line with that as well as the ornamentation but nothing is directly copied from existing outfits. All the patterns are similar to what you'd find from that region's traditional clothing as well. Usually my work has far less real world reference but in this case it was appropriate that it should be in respect to the culture the character comes from in their story. I'd recommend looking up the Maasai and Samburu for sure though; they are by far two of the most well known tribes that still can and prefer to live their traditional lifestyle as much as possible. You've likely seen them on National Geographic or Discovery Channel at some point.

Ey thanks! Had a lot of fun with this one. <3 I have a long way to go before I'd consider myself a master but I'm glad you like my design sense.

Haha and hey don't worry about it! xD That's life. You wouldn't believe some gemstones I dug up in my watchers list. People who have followed me for almost a decade and I didn't notice how AMAZING their work had gotten without me realizing it since I wasn't mutuals at the time even though they were a regular visitor. 

I wish I was more familiar with your characters but I've been enjoying your anatomy, line-weight, and beautiful airbrushing the last couple years. ( Glad you choose to keep your DA page up cuz I don't have an FA haha. Thinking of having one just to have a presence but idk. )

Yep, it happens sometimes...And I always feel kinda foolish when I find an amazing artist in my watch-list I've forgotten about D: But it's still cool they've been found, heh!

Woah, thanks! It's really nice to know you like my artwork this much, big-big thankies for this! And from my part I'll be waiting for your extremely detailed beautiful concepts, they're an inspiration for me.
And yeah, it will be great to see your stuff on FA! I'm sure people there will like your artworks as well.

The character reference I was sent had small shells and things tied into his mane Didn't feel the need to detail those since it was more or less the same as what he has in his mane for all the outfits he's already got in his closet.

The character is from Africa at the time when white imperialism was beginning to bring firearms to the continent. Their other outfits place them as having come from Kenya, most likely a fictional tribe related to the Maasai and Samburu people which are the two I referenced.

oh cool you do a lot of research for these. Some commission artists just draw and the end result looks ridiculously wrong. I'm excited to give one of these commissions a try now.

(: Yeah I ain't about that life. Haha. If the character is clearly from or heavily based off an existing culture I'm always going to make sure I'm respectful of it. When its not I still put that same effort into doing right by the influences I'm using. Not that I'm infallible but I won't turn a blind eye to criticism either.
