Description
Another pendant I made in my etched jewelry workshop. This one is based off of the sun in Okami. This was made by covering the copper with asphaltum, scribing out the design, and then putting the pendant in ferric chloride for twenty minutes or so. The copper was eaten away where it was exposed.It took forever to cut out... the saw blade kept breaking... -_-
But it was fun!
I promise I'll get a better pic soon.

Ah! I forgot to ask my friend for wire. I want to try making a wire pendant like this, because those would be easier to make and sell. I made this with a copper sheet and asphaultum and ferric chloride and weird stuff. XD Or buy some precious metal clay... that stuff is SO COOL. X3

Oh boy, I remember cutting copper pieces. When I first did it in middle school I broke the blade a lot. But somehow when I hit my art classes in high school I used one blade down until it was dull, never broke it.
Honestly those blades are so tricky, though. I kind of realized that you just let the blade cut as it will, without pushing on it too much. If you push it, it snaps. I learned the hard way, trust me.

That is impressive... those saw blades are like thread. I probably broke at least ten on just the two pendants I made, even if I didn't push. (I also made two pairs of little earrings, but I didn't have time to cut them out... I think my dad has a coping saw, so I should really finish them at some point. One pair's of biohazard symbols, the other radiation. I need to get patina, too. Sigh.)
Cool that you got to do it in school, though. I go to a really small high school, so I'd give a lot to be able to take something like that there.

Actually, I thought about making some simple ones with wire, and I still need to pester someone about that... my friend has a bunch of wire and jewelry stuff. I wonder if I could sell some. -shifty eyes-
