Description

I know, I know! I already did two speedpaintings for the landscape challenge, and I really should invest the time I have in others I haven’t done yet, but I just HAD to draw a desert with Link in it.

Very nice drawing of the Haunted Wasteland. Truely a difficult part of the game.

Thank you! For me it was mostly frustrating until I found out I needed the Lens of Truth to see the ghost. XD

Yea I know also I remember using the song of storms to see the flags there a lot easier. Good for conserving magic for the ghost part.

Using the Song of Storms?
I never thought about that, but that's a pretty good idea actually! Should try that someday!

Yea it makes that flag part so much easier. OoT ftw.

I really like how you presented this environment from the game; it's such a strange, unique spot that - from my own view point - doesn't get explored a lot artistically. And this piece captures a number of beautiful qualities:

- The haze on and gradual blur/smudge to the horizon provides the feel dust storm, while allowing us - the audience - to see the whole space, and thus truly get a sense of the challenge Link had before him
- The rough edges of the image adds to the raw, windswept feel of the work
- If one looks closely, we see there's not one but two horizons: the primary with the two towers that Link is looking towards, and a far distant pink skyline faded amongst the dust and skyscape. This, for me, gives a sense that this place is part of a greater world and isn't detached or lonely.

Great job!

Woah, thanks a lot for your elaborate comment!
I think you give me a little too much credit for this, as I copied a lot from the photograph I referenced. But I'm glad you like it, and I keep the points you've made in mind for future paintings!

Being able to translate what you see in a photograph to another medium is an important skill, so don't minimize that.

I think you're too kind.

This is REALLY pretty.
It does look kinda of sketchy but the atmosphere and feeling of depth are there.
Also that's a perfect use ofΒ aerial perspective, it really gives the idea of how big and lonely the
place is.
Maybe it just misses a bit more of detail?
It's just that Link looks so much cleaner compared to the rest of the drawing, maybe a little polishing wouldn't hurt.
Anyway, this a job well done!

Thank you!Β
You're right, had I worked a bit longer on it, it would have been better. It's just that I sort-of made it for a speedpaint challenge I'm participating in and couldn't work longer on it than two hours.
I might come back to it later to add more detail!
