Description A cloaked figure leaned against the alley wall, slimy bricks leaving a trail on the fabric as he slid down to his knees. Gloved hands cradled a hooded head, the darkness covering any defining features.

"ugh..wha was ah thinkin' comin' here, been one disasta after anotha..." The figure trailed off in a gruff voice. He reached into the depths of his cloak, pulling out a cell phone with the screen trying to send a message but only giving Error 404 listed. "Can' even call home fer some help, dang signal won' reach." His other hand reached around to his side. "An' no gold tah get me home eitha"

Heaving out a great sigh, the figure glanced towards the entryway where people walked back and forth repeatedly going about their day. None spared even a glance in his direction.

"Heh..humans wouldn' care tah help meh out, no matta who ah am...Ahm so boned." He chuckled before
glancing at his phone again, an idea slowly coming into place.  He blamed a certain lizard and her anime for this idea before he started typing, a fanged smirk glinting in the faint sunlight. "Welp, no harm in tryin', seemed tah work fer those far off princes jes fine."

He hit send.

All across Ebbott City, phones started going off.

"Move it girl! We got orders waiting!" A bossy male voice called from behind the counter, steam rising from within and the smell of dozens of different foods wafting around in the air.  Silently sighing, Frisk stood up from kneeling, cleaning up from under one of the tables. She switfly made her way over to the counter where a small mountain of plates were being stacked.

Without a word she picked them up and started taking them around the cafe, the sounds of people yelling, children screaming or crying slowing down now that they had some food to occupy thier mouths.

Rolling her neck she picked up left over trays and plates to bring them to the back. Inside was her boss and two other workers cleaning up their stations.

"Bout freaking time girl, I swear you're as slow as you are quiet!" Her boss stated with a gruff, wiping his hands on his dirty apron. "Anyway, rush has died down, so I guess you can take your break now. Get!"

Nodding while untying her own apron, Frisk walked over to the fridge to get her own breakfast (like heck was she eating the food here she saw what they did to it).  Sighing in relief she sat down in a corner booth away from the other patrons, looking outside.

'Not much to see though.' She thought to herself, eating in peace. 'Run down cafe in a run down town, nothing ever changes.'  Her shoulders dropped at the thought. Ever since she moved to Ebbott

City, life had turned into a downward spiraling rut for her.

Wake up in cruddy apartment, don her waitress outfit for Freddy's Diner for 18 hours for pay not even worth the effort, going back home to change to try to sleep, then wake up to do it again.

Day in and day out, every day.

She was sick of it, but was honestly lucky she was able to get a job and a roof over her head. Others weren't so lucky.

Her musings were interrupted when her phone rang with a notification alert. Bemused she went to check it when she saw the whole cafe, and several passerbys outside to do the same, only for each to scoff, shrugg or some other action only to then put their phone away.

Curious now, she checked the message.

rince of a far off land is need of assistance getting home. Will you donate to help him in his cause? Who knows! Donate now to have your dreams come true!: With a tiny chibi prince waving.

Snorting softly Frisk was about to delete the notice when she paused, staring at the message a little longer, tapping her thumb near the 'CLOSE' button, thinking.

Given her pay being so little and mainly surviving off of the tips left by the customers, all of it was used for rent and utilities and even then she always had to pull off a miracle. Frisk knew it was overpriced, but it was all that was available. So she really shouldn't...

Doing some quick calcuations in her head, Frisk sighed and gave a small smile tapping away at her phone before putting it away to go back to work.

(In the alley)

The figure hadn't moved since sending the message over half an hour ago, still staring up at the sky.  Huffing, he shifted, wondering why he had even bothered-

DING

More than shocked and bemused, the cloaked one freed one of his arms holding out his phone and stared at it.

There, in the account set up for it, was enough money to make a call home, some food and even a portion of the way back! All from one person!

"No way...tha' actually worked?" He breathed out, clicking on the message that came with it. A tiny pink and blue chibi waitress was giving a victory sign with a little speech bubble. 'Good luck Prince. I know what it is like to be down on your luck, it is not much but I hope this will help you.'

It wasn't signed bar a little winged symbol, it looked like angel wings holding some hearts in different colors.

"'eh...ah got a guardian angel. Gunna hafta find ya one day an' thank ya." The figure said softly before standing.

Outside the alleyway a passerby glanced in by chance but saw nothing bar some faint blue lights.
Shrugging, he went about his day.

(Three years later)

With a weary groan, Frisk flopped down on her bed, nudging off her shoes. The rut she had fallen in was getting deeper and deeper, today had been particularly bad. Between being yelled at by customers for wrong orders (she was exhausted can you blame her), yelled at by her boss and co-workers (no matter what it was it was her fault since she couldn't defend herself), yelled at by her landlord for late rent (tips had been very bad as of late, she already had to sacrifice other things to try to pay for them.) she was just so done with it all.

Wincing from her sore muscles protesting, Frisk turned to her side and checked her phone when it beeped again before sighing and clearing them out.

Just more notifications about some sort of Monster delegation coming to Ebbott City for possible negotations of a treaty.  She vaguely remembered something similar happening awhile ago though it fell through and the royal had to leave for his own safety.

The fact that they were trying again was a surprise, but she had heard that the King was overly kind and was always willing to give a second chance. His younger brother, the Crown Prince who she believed was the one that came before, was more cautious, but that was all she knew. She didn't even know what type of Monsters they were.

There weren't any Monsters in Ebbott City, most of the humans were racist and fearful of them. The few, very few, that she had met however were nothing but kind to her, always surprised when she tried to help them with what they needed at the time.

Stretching Frisk glanced out the window, seeing the dawn. Despite being sore and tired from the all-nighter, she knew she wouldn't sleep yet and just watched it.

This dawn seemed especially bright and colorful, lifting her mood a bit. Deciding to treat herself, Frisk quickly showered and changed, softly humming a tune. Grabbing her house keys and heading out (not before checking to make sure the crazy landlord wasn't around. She had already been harassed by him three times yesterday, once at work!), she walked down the hallway and out of the building.

Frisk never saw the odd group coming from the other direction just around the corner, nor heard their loud, exuberant voices.  But one figure did, and they vanished as well.

Ebbott Park was one of the few places in the city that wasn't run down or filled with trash, actually having some life to it. While not overly large, it did have a decent size meadow where people usually had picnics and a large wooded area.  People usually avoided it, dark as it was.
And for that reason it was one of Frisk's favorite places to go and unwind.

Dew was still clinging to the grass and her shoes as she made her way to the woods, glancing around every so often to make sure no one was watching though she need not bother, the park was empty but for her.

Grinning like a child, Frisk got on her hands and knees, crawling under a large bush. She never could figure if it was because of nature just growing this way, an animal of some sort, or her using this path, but it was mostly soft dirt with a tunnel of leaves around her. It made her think of a secret, magical path to some mythical place.

And every time she crawled out of the exit, her thoughts on that were only reaffirmed.  Completely surrounded by the old trees was a tiny grove, light filtering through the leaves above like golden specks. Flowers of all kinds grew leaving a patch of grass she liked to sit on, leaning against one of the larger trees.

Giggling, she hopped across the little stream that cut through the meadow and sat down in her spot, relaxing.  During her first week in Ebbott City she had found this spot, running around from some robbers chasing her. They never found her, and any time she had a bad problem or day she would come here, and all her problems seemed easier to deal with.

Curling up, arms around her knees and head resting on top, Frisk stared at the water, watching the light dance like diamonds. The sun had risen by now, but the area around her was shadowed from the thick leaves.

Sighing once more she let her thoughts wander, nothing in particular. Her bills that were overdue and more coming up, the struggles with the thankless job she was forced to work, the repairs she had to do again on the door from the landlord banging on it, the nice color of the boots in front of her.

Wait a second...boots?

Freezing in place Frisk continued to stare in front of her.  On the other side of the little stream, no more than two feet from her, someone was standing.  A big someone if the size of their dark boots were anything to go by, but she didn't dare look any futher.

No one had ever found her here or this spot as far as she knew, and she was not sure how to act.

"'Been lookin' fer ya fer awhile. Heh, yer one tough angel ta find ya know?"

The voice, male and gruff with an odd accent, filled the silent clearing. But he made no motionn to move, nor did Frisk, beyond the expression on her face. In her confusion she started to sign

*Angel? What on earth* but she stopped herself from moving anymore.

The male laughed, not unkindly, "Well ya kiddo, after wha' ya did fer me, though' of ya as mah' guardian angel fer a long time now."
Seeing that the stranger wasn't going to harm her and seemed to understand her signing, she asked

*I do not believe we have ever met, what have I done for you?"

"Whelp, it has been awhile. Ah was here once before, few years ago now. Didn' have da best welcome. Eh, between bein' chased an' jes chaos, ah was lost an' unable ta call home or mah bro fer help. So ah tried sumthin' ah seen in a friend of mine anime. Ah sent out a message askin' fer help."

Frisk's eyes widened in slow comprehension, a far off memory coming back. A slow day at the diner,
everyone's phones going off, and the odd message that she decided to reply to.

"Ah sent da message ta everyone in dis city, but no one replied. No one, but ya kiddo.  Ya decided ta help a complete stranger. Ya have no idea how bad ah really was, den ya gave me hope. Ah was able ta get home."

Frisk watched the figure walk closer to her, stepping over the stream. "Ah wanted ta thank ya, an' so does mah bro, an' well, ya got quite a few wantin' ta meet ya. But since ya didn' sign ya message, it took a long time ta find ya. So, if ya could do one last thing, ah would love ta know yer name angel."

Without looking up, she signed *My name is Frisk. And you do not have to thank me, any decent person would have helped.*

She got the feeling the other was smiling, "Frisk...a beautiful name, fer a beautiful human." He shifted again, Frisk got the impression he was leaning down. "Dat may be true, but not jes any person replied, ya did.  And ya gave up a lot, doin' dat. Nah, dun' do dat." The male halted Frisk signing anything, "When we finally found ya, we found out sum other things ta. Ah found out jes how bad off yer life is, an' ya still helped meh out Frisk. Ya deserve better an' ah wanna give it ta ya. Mah bro really wants ta meet ya as well."

The whole conversation, Frisk had not once looked up from staring at the other's boots, so she was a little surprised when a white, bony hand was suddenly in her view.

"Please, come wit meh. Ya deserve so much more den dis place angel, ya deserve happiness...and ah would love ta give ya da world, if ya let me.

Smiling, Frisk finally glanced up, seeing the other for the first time. A large, though muscled, skeleton stood there in royal clothing. Blue eye lights stared down at her from a smiling, though blushing blue, face. With the light dancing around him he could have come straight out of one of her fairy tale books she read when she was younger. Giggling, she placed her hand in his, though not before asking, *So you want to show me a whole new world?*

And as the other stood her up, finding herself in his arms, he laughed, "Ah dun' have a magic carpet kiddo, but ah do know a shortcut. Name's Sans by da way, Sans da Skeleton Prince."

It seemed as if one second she was in Sans' arms in the clearing, she blinked, and the next they were standing in front of her apartment...with the door being broken off.

"UNDYNE I STILL CAN NOT BELIEVE YOU TORE OFF THE HUMAN'S DOOR! WE ARE HERE FOR DELEGATIONS, YOU CAN NOT...OH BROTHER! YOU HAVE RETURNED!"

Frisk was bemused at the sight of several monsters standing around her tiny apartment when suddenly one of them came towards them. A skeleton like Sans, though much skinnier and dressed just as nice if not nicer than the Prince.

"Hey bro, got a surprise fer ya. Dis is Frisk." Sans said with a grin, making no move to let you leave his side.

The other skeleton gasped before grinning happily, "HUMAN! THIS IS INDEED AN HONOR! I WANTED TO THANK YOU PERSONALLY FOR HELPING MY BROTHER. I AM IN YOUR DEBT."

*No no Your Majesty, it is alright and-* Frisk's words were cut off when the other pulled her from Sans' arms into his own for a hug.

"NONSENSE HUMAN! AND CALL ME PAPYRUS! I CAN TELL WE WILL BE GREAT FRIENDS, AND YOU SAVED MY BROTHER! THAT MAKES US FAMILY!"

As Papyrus continued on in this manner, Frisk glanced around at the other monsters. Most of them were in armor of some sort, she guessed they were the royal guard. Sans was staring around in shock at the state of the apartment.

"Frisk..dis is yer place? We knew it wasn' da best but..."

*It is alright, I have...gotten used to it." Frisk faltered a little in her signing, partly from embarassment, and partly because Papyrus started to cry.

"OH DEAR HUMAN FRISK, THIS WILL NOT DO! YOU MUST BE REPAID IN FULL FOR YOUR KINDNESS TO MY BROTHER! UNDYNE, TORIEL! START GATHERING WHATEVER CAN NOT BE REPLACED, WE WILL TAKE IT WITH US!"

*What?*

"ASGORE, METTATON! YOU WILL HANDLE HAVING FRISK'S PAPERWORK TAKEN CARE OF FOR HER MOVE!"

"Er bro?"

"SOMEONE CALL ALPHYS AND GRILLBY TO HAVE A ROOM SET UP FOR FRISK, AND I WANT EVERYTHING PERFECT! IN FACT GET SAKON ON THAT AS WELL AS A NEW WARDROBE, I KNOW HE WILL ENJOY THAT! OH HAVE THE ROOM IN THE ROYAL WING, THAT'S PERFECT! NYEH HEH HEH OF COURSE IT'S PERFECT, I THE GREAT KING PAPYRUS THOUGHT OF IT!"

Finally being put down, Frisk was swept into Sans' arms again as the Monsters moved about to their King's orders, all of them smiling at him and giving soft looks at her. One of them, a female goat Monster, even came over and smoothed down her hair before continuing with her task.

*Umm...Sans? What is happening?*

Sans stared down at Frisk, silently loving having her in his arms. He could get used to this.

Blushing at the thought, he answered her, "Well kiddo, ah think mah bro is eitha gonna negotiate
takin' ya wit us. Or he may kidnap ya, wit him ya never know."

Giving her first laugh in what seemed like years, all monsters pausing at the tiny sound, Sans blushed more and hugged Frisk close.

*Seems like a fairy tale come true Prince Sans.* Frisk said, smiling as she calmed down.

"Jes Sans fer ya Frisk, and ah agree wit ya. Ah got da Princess in mah arms right now." And as he leaned down to nuzzle her while the human laughed, both shared the same thought.

'If this is a fairytale, I got just got my dream come true.'
