omg I made a tutorial for the GIMP~This part just has the skin coloring portion, next well be hair. I hope it's helpful to some people, if you have questions just ask away.
part 2 will be out in a couple days ( I have to leave right now so I don't have time to upload it)
EDITXXXX After you put your white layer under the linart layer MAKE SURE TO SET THE LINEART LAYER MODE TO MULTIPLY! sorry I forgot to put that on there.

Oh my god! You're tutorial saved me! I looked literally everywhere and i couldn't find any good coloring tutorials for gimp, especially that worked with scanned images this well. I'm too poor for a tablet T-T

i put add alpha channel on but when i try to add a new layer like you said the original picture deosnt show just a white page isint the original sopose to automaticly show up on the new layer sry if my questions dumb but im new to using gimp

um am i retarded or what i dont have a layer box or a layer secion for that matter i have a tab and all it says is add a layer even then i cant see the thing were it shows my layer under my tools TT~TT if you cant help me its cool im just lost at everything i can make lineart and thats it

You said that when you go out the lines and then just erase the mistakes. How do you do it so clean. Does it take a light zoomed in work. Or something easier.

Just zoom and erase (it may take a little while pending on how careful you were during the coloring, some people like to just color in the line the first time so they don't have to go back. I'm just not one of those people~)

You should say to make the 1st layer on multipy cause the white doesnt colour otherwise

when i tried to make the white layer it didnt work, so i followed the advice of someone who commented and went layer
Wow this is good. I got everything and it looks good, but I scanned my drawing, so is there a way to darken the outline? Thanks ^^

I have a question...when you're colouring, you know when you colour you go off the borderlines? Wouldn't that show up?

wow this was very helpful...i did run into some problems with the first part because i was not able to put in a background color correctly, but once i set the first layer to multiply before adding a new layer (the one that is suppose to by white) then everything else feel into place. thanks for posting the tutorial it has been very helpful
