The Norns are female beings who rule the destiny of gods and men.
The Norns are three sisters, Urthr, Verthandi, and Skuld. Where essentially the weavers fate of men and gods. Verthandi Urd and Verthandi weave thread the of life of a man, only to be eventually scattered shredders by th younger sister Skuld. The Norns were not subject to the deities, but obeyed the wishes of Orlog (Destiny), who is the eternal law of the universe. Appeared at the end of the Golden Age under the tree Yggdrasil, residing in the sacred well Urdar. Besides being the weavers of fate, the Norns were maintain Yggdrasil alive. The sisters mixed clay and water from the Well of Urd and placed in the roots of the World Tree to prevent rot. The Norns also had a duty to save the precious golden apples that grew on the branches of Yggdrasil, and did not allow anyone, except for Idun, pick them, so she could feed the gods.
