It's very pretty, and an effective use of black and white. I also have to say, I like that the stem and leaves can be made out subtly in the background--they are out of focus and nondistinct, but in a way that gives the photo some extra character. Almost looks like the flower has little wings or is looking up with it's little arm-leaves spread in wonder.
I don't know. Maybe I just anthropomorphize flowers. /silly
In any case, it's a sweet photo and I'm sure your friend will like it!

Sometimes I try to do something with "blur" to achieve different or unusual effects. Many times I'm unsuccessful, but the key is to try anyway. I'm so glad you like it. Your opinion actually means a lot to me. And you're not silly! I do it from time to time myself.

Well, that's too bad! (That you don't use it much I mean.) I just like the unknown factor of a film camera, you don't always know just how it will turn out! It adds to the excitement!

I actually admire film photography a lot. I want to get a nice 35mm but I don't have the funds to keep up with that photography with all the film development and black room equipment. Maybe one day soon!

Ooh I'm gonna go buy some film - you've inspired me! Haha what should I do? What would you like to see from around here? (I got a cheap used film camera with a teleconverter lens for just about 200 bucks. Broke within 3 days but they fixed it on warranty and its been great ever since) At least I can scan my photos and then post them! Or maybe they can scan my negatives digitally! That would be cool! Cuz I can't get to a dark room , so maybe I can find a place to use Light Room somewhere. I usually just use Paint.NET because it is smart simple and easy. If I need to get complicated I turn to GIMP.
