“I desire to go to Loth” Magnus commented absentmindedly as he leafed through a wildlife log. “Now why is that, Sir?” Landal asked from the other end of the table, an eyebrow raised. “There is a creature that has piqued my interest.” He remarked, sliding the log along the length of the table. The book was paged open to an entry on loth-cats with a small sticky note denoting there was a specimen of unusual colouration documented by a villager. “Why do you only desire objects that are difficult to obtain? You do not even know what sort of variant this creature even is.” Magnus chuckled, “I think it’s worth the journey out, even if it is to such a remote wasteland.” The tutor shook his head and slid the back back over to his pupil, “I suppose we can frame this as a training outing”. Magnus smiled and thanked the other.

“Your dogged motivation to find such obscure items should be better focused to more practical means, Sir. The headway you would make if you just applied yourself responsibly.” Landal retorted as they walked through the grasslands. “I am motivated by what interests me. Finding such unique fauna is one such outlet.” Magnus commented. Disturbia huffed, he found the trek boring as there appeared to be no signs of life. Usually hunts were in more populated lands and this change of pace wasn’t to his favour. “We’ll find it.” the noble muttered to the indignant stallion as they continued under the shadow of the unusually striped hills. Without the natural landmarks, there was not much to keep one’s bearings. Stoplight’s ears pricked over to their right as the subtlest rustle of grass caught his attention. “Why did you have to be the one to notice something..” Landal complained as he looked over to the patch of grass that caught his mount’s attention. “Rope probably will work for what you seek, you have the bundle?” Magnus nodded and gestured to the coil tied to his belt. “Don’t return until you find what you’re looking for. Put that motivation to some practical use.” the tutor snipped as he brought his horse to a stop. The noble nodded and went off trotting towards the grass patch that showed the briefest instance of life. The pair trotted off, following the vague trail of rustling grass. Their determination was rewarded when they saw a pair of orange and black ears pop up above the scrubby brush. “There you are! After him!” Magnus exclaimed as he urged the horse faster towards the ears. A head popped up, accompanied with piercing green eyes and large fangs. The loth cat hissed before charging off, knowing this wasn’t prey she had a chance of fighting. The horse now seeing their quarry charged towards the small body, using his long stride to his advantage to catch up to the small cat absolutely tearing away further into the grasslands. Magnus grabbed the rope, holding the coil out as they approached the calico cat. He aimed and tossed the rope, loop side out towards the cat’s head. The loth-cat hissed as it saw the loop, small pupils narrowed out of anger and frustration. Magnus felt resistance on the rope and sat back, bringing them to a halt in a flurry of dust and sand. A massive burst of hisses and growls emerged from the grass patch as the dust settled. Magnus carefully vaulted off and followed the rope trail into the grass. Sure enough, the rope had caught one very angry loth-cat by the torso. “Sorry..” Magnus muttered out of habit as he was kneeled by the creature. She whipped around, flashing her teeth at her hunter, still flailing against the rope loop. “Struggling makes it tighten.” the noble said with practiced form as he reached to carefully pick up the cat. It slowly stopped flailing, more in shock as she felt hands holding her up and lifting her off the ground. Disturbia walked up, curious of the colorful and furry bundle in his rider’s arms. “There, there. I’m your ticket off this barren wasteland. You need to behave, Landal already isn’t happy with me dragging him here to get you.” he said as he attempted to pet the cat behind it’s giant ears. She slowly calmed down and even leaned into the hand as the sound of hoof-steps came up behind them. “Did you attain your prize? Was it really worth this trek?” Landal asked as he hopped off his horse and walked up to the pair. “I’d say so. Have you ever seen a loth-cat of this colouration before?” Magnus asked as he showed the bundle to his tutor. The cat switched from a purring bundle to an angry bundle of teeth and claws when shown to Landal. “Dear lord, it is feral.. Why didn’t you seek out something more approachable, Sir?” he exclaimed as he took a step back from the violence ball in his pupil’s arms. “I like a challenge.” Magnus commented as he held the cat out from his body as a safety precaution. “Well, this is your problem and yours alone now. It’s getting late and we should head back to the Capital.” Landal snipped as he walked back to the safety of his horse. Magnus nodded and carefully got himself and his prize back on the back of the horse. It would be quite the trek back and they didn’t have too long until nightfall. The trip was a success. [WC: 917]
