If you wanted to commission something I'd certainly be up for the challenge, but I have too many commissions in process right now (see my front page on Deviant Art for details) to even think about tacking extra art projects on top of that right now.

Whoops! I found the black and white one and asked if there was a color version, please disregard that comment. Second, I want to point out one thing. I noticed that the waist guns are staggered, that means this is a late G model B-17. The waist guns on the late G model were covered in solid plexiglass. I would suggest adding lines showing where the plexiglass was shot out, thus allowing the gunners to fire the flares. However, all my technical nagging aside, I really like this picture. All the furries look good in flight jackets and the B-17 interior is very well done and all in proportion. You are a master. I wonder, do plan on making more? Prehaps the story of the raid or the outcome of the landing? I'm a sucker for anything with the B-17.

This piece was commissioned by Richard Thatcher, who wrote some Tales From the Morphing Period comics among other things, and from what I recall there was a story behind it, but I don't think I ever saw the prose that this piece was based off of. If I still owned the original, I would certainly tweak the plexiglass to show some holes broken through them as that would certainly solve this no-prize moment. Heh.
As far as more B-17 projects - probably not, unless I decided to do an Airboy story in the future and had them as backdrop props somewhere along the way. (Hm, he IS public domain.....)

I really dig how you opted to hand color this one. The rough watercolor look really adds a nice old school touch, especially to the sky.

I will say though that I personally prefer the B&W to the color version, mainly because you have some nice strong ink work that
really doesn't show as much with color. Keep this style up though, I think once you find a balance, this combination could work
wonders. Your skill with the watercolor certainly shows here.

Yeah, I was really struck by the strong blacks in the inkwork myself, which is why I opted to scan it and "save" the look before moving on to the coloring phase. I also considered doing the tones in a sepia wash to give it that old photograph look, but I ultimately went with full colors (mostly because it was a commission piece).

Thanks! I was going for a "capture the moment" effect with this one.
