"Practice makes perfect" in that sense. XD
It's a skill that even the fellas should know since going to restaurant can be expensive sometimes.

A few years ago though, I didn't craft the dragonfly pendants in these (if I did, I'd definitely have to charge a lot more to cover the costs of the pendant mold, the metal, etc.)
This lady has some videos that explain the process & steps pretty well.

d: One of those babies costs a couple of grand. Wouldn't wanna keep one around the house here since someone might steal it...it's a problem in my area.

snort, lol!
sorry, I am just totally imagining the thing being up in this apartment and the neighbor wanting to kill me.
But it's so interesting! D: I love the way it's done, thought I am not sure if another way made simpler exist?
I had this... tool I can't remember of, like a metal bar that would make metal boil, can't it be used in a mold?

They'd probably report you to the land lord. XD
It would be more expensive to be honest to use some of the alternative methods according to what a few people have told me but I'm not too familiar with said methods.

...
what?
how expensive is this machine? I can understand it becomes less
expensive over time with this, but it must cost a huge load to buy at
first!

SavageFrog In reply to mydlas [2014-11-13 04:23:42 +0000 UTC]
Like I mentioned, the average machinery costs tend to go into the thousands but it's not only that that you have to worry about: the price of metal you're using is a big factor. Silver is far from cheap & if you mess up with a metal like it...the process of attempting to salvage it isn't too much fun.

Yes, but can't be melted again and again if mistakes happen?
and... I mean, doesn't it have to be bought even if you have that huge baby?
👍: 0 ⏩: 1
SavageFrog In reply to mydlas [2014-11-13 11:20:54 +0000 UTC]
It can be melted again but you end up losing a few milligrams or grams each time (if you're using silver, gold or any other metal, it's typically paid for by ounce or grams so the price tag of the mistakes also add up in $$$).

Oh... that is kinda painful! But I still don't get how it comes more
expensive without the baby? Is it because there are fewer metal loss?
