Allow me a moment to simply take this in and collect all of the thoughts that threaten to spill from my gawking jaw. Words are desperately making attempts of escape, yet I fear what is coming out is but gibberish without rhyme or sense. I feel tears brimming in my eyes. Spectacular. Breathtaking.
Truly, I do not believe I rightfully deserve this.
The piece, as a whole, is rendered with a keen eye and an attention to detail that I find masterful. The way the characters themselves are framed draws the eye nicely down from the sky, past the shadows of buildings, to the center stage of the angel - thus setting the mood for the characters themselves. Both Urchin and Hare look wondrous, everything about them is correct. The expression are so perfect and the setting and - everything. I cannot stress how much joy this composition brings me. Down from line to shading to the full effect - this is beyond expectation. This is art.
