Aww this is so sweet. Poor little Timmy. And Mrs. Brisby is one of the bravest mothers I've even met. You can tell she's terrified of going to the owl and putting medicine in Dragon's bowl but she does them anyway because her thoughts are always on her children, especially her sick one.

Are you familiar with the Christmas carol "The Friendly Beasts", about the birth of Jesus and the animals that helped bring him to that point ("'I', said the donkey, shaggy and brown, 'I carried his mother uphill and down...'")? I wrote my own rendition of it in Mrs. Brisby's honor, The Friendly Beasts NIMH Style:
Mrs. Brisby the field mouse, brave and kind,
Had to help her ailing son Timothy; he was in a bind,
But the friendly beasts she did soon find,
Mrs. Brisby the field mouse, brave and kind.
"I", said Mr. Ages, the old medical mouse,
"I felt bad for Jonathan, her late spouse.
I made medicine for Timmy, when she entered my house.

"I soon made the farmer's tractor defective.
Timmy was in great need, that is objective.

"I brought her to the Great Owl on my back.
She'd saved me from the cat; courage she does not lack.

That she seek out the rats, to avert her son's demise.
