A-MA-ZING! ^_^
You could decide to use your talent for only non-pony things... But you decided to be 20% cooler and to include ponies in your works :D And I really, really thank you for that ^_^ I love ponies so much!

Hot damn that's a lot of detail! Does Vue let you render in chunks, or do you have to run the 87 hour job in one go?

I can pause a render with a 50% chance of a crash losing everything. So yes, generally it's all in one go. xD

Didn't you used to use a network renderer for this?
The quality is good, but I don't really like all of the composition in this image. Th right and background is mostly fine, but what irks me is the vast amount of screen space on the left that is just simply dark. You can barely make out details. Maybe another light source that would bring in some contours could have helped there.

You think so too eh?
I've always been bugged by the flatness of my older stuff so I tried adding more contrast to the images but I keep ending up with these huge black holes of lost detail.
Too little contrast = flat image
Too much contrast = black holes
Still trying to find the sweet spot
Also I had to sell my network renderfarm for food. xD

Yes, it is hard to balance. Try to not only work with lights that are actually visible in camera view. Play around with some lights coming from the side or even from behind the camera. You can add interesting points of detail with these techniques, without pulling the main focus away.
And yes, sucks that you had to sell it. :/

3 days+ render must really be stressful on your card. Did you manage to keep the card at an ok temp?

CPU rendering? Ick. Unless you have a high end i7. It doesn't sound worth it to wait. I use Blender. But sadly. Some cycles rendering features are cpu only. A few of which I want to use. So I can do it on my 770. Oh well. Stuff takes time.

Such is the nature of CG unfortunately until more companies take advantage of the super wizardry that is GPU rendering.
I have a i7 4930k 6 core (12 threads) overclocked to 4ghz and scenes like this can still take ages. Especially when I crank the settings up at 4K.
Haven't really used Blender except for posing characters. But i've seen the Cycles renderer work wonders in merely minutes.

Well. Ok. Besides all that. Great job on these renders.
