Description
This is a goodbye of sorts to my Inner Grell. A lot of things happened, a lot of things changed...Aaanyway, this is also an entry to the 's calendar project.
Um, what do you guys think about the red swirly thing around the edge? Yay or nay? Some here suggest that it's stupid. I'm just not sure. It seems so empty without it, but... >_<
Aaand another question, does he remind you of a cat? I can't tell what it is. The nose? Do the glasses create an illusion of whiskers? Am I imagining things?

I like that nose. I think it's cute somehow, being a bit random but I do agree that something is upwith that smile - it looks a bit forced, but I do like the way the hair flows and the edge is a nice design element. The colouring is real good too

Yeah, even I can tell that the smile look a bit forced. It's the sort of smile you put on when you're posing for a photo...
I might draw him again, but my mind isn't buzzing with ideas of pictures to draw. But never say never, eh?

Yay to swoopy frame and I think it's the nose, it's not pointy enough, but flatter and wider than you usually draw it. Also I think possibly his upper lip is very thin? Makes me feel something will tear if he forces that smile any wider. Or try moving the mouth up a little so there's less space between the top lip and nose?
But clothes and colours look amazing with their shading, and the pose is cool and all!

It wasn't meant to be brutal, just my guess at what might be the the reason people are saying the smile is creepy and you think he looks like a cat. I could be wrong, not like I could do it any better myself.

I guess the misunderstanding was in the point of view on the creepy smile / cat-like features. Personally, I don't mind either. After all Grell can be quite a creepster at times and he was the Cheshire cat in the Wonderland episodes, so both of them suit him fine

Ah yeah, I see. Well I don't actually think the smile looks creepy either, just sort of pained. But that might be because of the shape of his eyebrows. They always make him look a little worried or sad.

I think the eyes are sort of feline-esque. Maybe that's it...
That's kinda sad about losing ur inner Grell. I used to see you a lot around the group and noticed that its been not so much lately. Oh well, life does go on I suppose. I find myself a bit tied up with the Attack on Titan thing now, even though I'll probably always hold Grell dear to my heart as a character. Thanks so much for drawing this for the calendar though! It's a wonderful addition

I hear so much about Attack on Titan. I watched a couple of episodes, but it didn't stick 
Grell... I will miss him too. Well, I have been missing him for a while now. My current circumstances aren't very "Inner-Grell friendly" and he's been slowly slipping away. He'll always be dear to my heart though. ((I'm even considering a little tattoo of some sort, if I ever decide on a design and a place))

A tattoo would be neat!! I kind of know what you mean... all the things I was once interested in, I never truly lost interest in them, but they just don't take up as much of my attention and it is kind of depressing. But with school and jobs and having a life, sometimes the characters and series' we're interested in can't be as important.

It saddens me too. Actually, spending several hours on this painting stirred up some Grelliness in me, but I can't seem to find a way to keep him in my life without hurting someone's feelings or betraying his character

I really hope this is not goodbye forever. You make such a wonderful Grell and you draw him so cute. In all honesty, I have a hunch as to what may be the underlining reason. And I mean no disrespect to anyone. But if Grell is your muse. You should never give up your muse for anyone. He is apart of you and unless you yourself have grown tired of him, you should never let him go. In the end of course it is your decision. But you should not be afraid of hurting someone else's feelings. Sorry don't mean to come off so preachy. I honestly wish you well and hope that you follow your heart. Trust that and that alone. Don't worry about anyone else or their opinions etc. Do what makes you happy, what brings you joy. Remember the fandom will always be here and you will always have a home with us.

Ironically it was Inner Grell who was getting his feelings hurt, and I... I just don't want to keep channeling all those negative emotions.
So I decided to put him to rest, at least for the time being.

I think it's mostly the combo and the coarseness of the lines, with the creepysmile.
