Description This is a redo of an old piece I used to like and have since tried to improve over the years. I think I have a bit but I still have a waaaaays to go LOL!   Thank you so much for taking a look!

Notes 1810s

Emily Harrison doesn't have the easiest life. She has lost her mother to violent circumstances, she has a difficult man of a father who is a werewolf and can be terrifying and she's always worried about losing him too, she secretly takes care of a close friend who is ill and no one knows that but her, she has feelings for two different guys and is conflicted about that, she's often overlooked in a room - she basically helps everyone but herself and holds a lot in. The result is that Emily is often more quiet and a little sad. She has a big and tender heart for others but their suffering can get to her.

Roderick has held a candle for her for some time and tries to express his feelings for her often but she usually manages to block his advances. This always leaves him flummoxed.

One spring day while Emily is on her way to give goods to her ill friend, Roderick runs after her seeing that she is in a hurry without a bonnet and ignoring his calls to her. He catches up to her and asks where she is going when it was starting to rain. He saw her crying and immediately begins to comfort her. Roderick only wanted Emily's happiness restored.

She didn't know why, but she began to pour her heart out to the reverend as he just let her sorrow bleed out in the rain.

Ah, this is just wonderfully romantic and touching! The scene itself is enough to completely melt my heart but with the story added to it I adore it even more! Poor Emily! 😢 I feel very much for her, and the way you describe what happens in this scene makes me hoping that her life will be a happier one later on ☺ I want to know what happens next! 😁

Oh wowowowowowow!!! This is such a beautiful, powerful, heart-wrenching scene. The rain merely enhances the romance of the scene. I love the way you've shaded Emily's hair in particular, it certainly looks very damp! It reminds me a bit of PreRaphaelite hairstyles, very full and wavy and has a personality of its own! I love the added detail of the basket too, it adds purpose to the scene and shows the practical, caring side of Emily.
I love the way you've painted the raindrops landing on Roderick's coat and his comforting, tender expression is enough to make any gal go weak at the knees!
I also really like the way you've used the trees to frame this piece- definitely one of my favourites in your gallery so far!

Aaaww!!! Thank you so so much!!!!! <3
I'm really jealous of Emily's hair btw... My hair is stank! LOL
Roderick is a sweet guy. Kind of naive in the beginning but he's a goodin'.
I so happy you like it! I was pretty happy with the way it turned out!

I love the mood here! There is a lot of sadness but also some relief in her expression as she lets him comfort her. ;_;
The rain texture on the clothes is great as well!

Alas, my auburn hair has been replaced with salt and pepper gray.... I'm a silver fox if I don't color lol...
Thank you so so much!!!

I don't even want to talk about my hair, it's a wild name on some days then a flat helmet on others. Aw lol wisdom hairs, that's strange I always assumed that hair colour didn't grey as quickly. Mine is dark brown but I've been getting some sneaky whites underneath, ninja like in hiding

I'm sure your hair is lovely! I love dark hair! Mine used to be auburn naturally. Unfortunately, I have the premature gray gene on both sides of the family... boo.
My father was almost white by the time he was 35 (I'm 33 and don't have a prayer), and my Mom's mom was salt and pepper by the time she was 25. I started losing my hair color to gray at 23 years old. Wah wah... But that's Ok! I have "wisdom-ish"!
As a hoary headed woman, it amuses me to she these beautiful young girls spend a butt-load of money to PURPOSELY get their hair gray/silver.... Why?

I just sit back and laugh. LOL

It's poo, I need to cut it (again)
Wow the genes got you in the end! I don't think my parents went white so quickly, though honestly I can't say i paid much attention, though my eldest sister had grey hair (I mean quite a lot) before she was thirty but I think that was stress as she used to be a very nervous sort of person - having said that though, I have a twin and she has greys (in her 'widow's peak' har har, quite stylish though if she leaves them to multiply) that keep coming back to thwart her, but again I think that's stress related rather than genetic.
Yeah!  Grey is now in, personally I think I always found it quite stylish if it was all let to go grey at once rather than the continual dying process - at least yours is natural without the peroxide damaging it

I feel that your art style would be an amazing addition to Terry Pratchett's Discworld series especially "The Night Watch" sub-story line. Wish you could get roped into doing artwork for that series if they ever decided to illustrate the novels.

I may get smacked for this but I HAVEN'T read that yet! It sounds awesome and right up my alley! That is a very kind thing to say! I love that subject matter! I'm a big Bradbury fan but I need to read more Pratchett!

Start with "Guards, Guards!" and then go to the second in the series "Men at Arms". GG is the starting point for that sub-series but MaA really starts to flesh out the squad (Hooray the trolls are here!).

A good suggestion to save yourself some cost of books is to buy them used on Amazon. Normally you can get these books for very cheap. I think I picked up a few that were only like two bucks each!

Nice! I love getting used books too! I wonder if they have it on audio book because I love to listen to books while I do artwork!
