Well, this picture was later edited on Photoshop so the shades look darker but I managed to find a nice, dark color to use with the shadowing. Usually very thick, warm shade of blue does the trick :3 You can see the process quite clearly in my speed paint video: www.youtube.com/watch?v=8f7kMr…
As you can see there the original picture is very different from the version you see here on DeviantArt but I like using Photoshop as a little finishing touch c:

why not use it as another tool? :3 totally a viable method. I often tweak my pieces with GIMp ( a free photoshop essentially)

Well, I wouldn't know about that. I sometimes draw his hair blonde, sometimes light or dark brown with a shade of red in the shadowing. I just work with what I feel comfortable with at the moment. This time I went with blonde because I (accidentally) made his skin so dark the hair wouldn't stand out if it was a shade of brown. For all I know he could have green hair or no hair at all, right?
All I know about his looks is that he has blue eyes, apparently. I still sometimes color them green, though.
