Yes I export the whole scene as an Obj. file in Daz Studio and bring it into Octane.

I really like this. I tried dl'ing Octane myself, but the blasted thing won't work and the .dll file just isn't in the right area, I guess. NICE.

Thansk you!

That’s strange it should of worked, do you have the latest drivers for your Nvidia card?

DarwinsMishap In reply to Sazariel [2011-12-03 01:24:07 +0000 UTC]

S'far as I know. I routinely check for the drivers. It's odd, yes. I tried putting it in the file where the program is, as well as the System and System32 files. Keep getting the "Can't find, blah blah" message. *snort* Maybe just as well since I have so much crap on my pc as is? Between DS3A, PP2010, C8, Lux and CS5E I should probably quit while I'm ahead.

I'm not going to worry about it, just work on what I have and not be a greedy bastid no more. LOL

I think you have to go to where the program is and “Create Shortcut” Then Paste it on your desktop and rename it. It should work after that. If you try and just copy it that where some have run into trouble and it will not open the program.

Hm. I'll try that as soon as I can. Thank you for the tip!!

Octane seems to work for you pretty well Unfortunately, I don't have a NVidia card, so I can't get it. They said, they consider a port to Open CL, but I think, that won't happen for a while, a.k.a. years. Luxrender lacks a nice material editor at the moment, but I think has a better concept with its hybrid mode, where CPU and GPU are both used. For larger scenes and renders, you need quite a lot of memory on your graphics card if you want to use Octane.

Sazariel In reply to aerilworks [2011-11-28 15:42:12 +0000 UTC]

Yeah, that’s one of the drawbacks when using Octane. I tried to load a scene with two characters, background, clothes, props and I went over the ram useage on my card and couldn’t load the scene. But I ran into the same problem with Luxrender since I didn’t have enough memory. So looks like I have some upgrades in my future it seems.

It depends on how many licenses you want, its 99 Euros for once license.

In regards to importing the Poser OBJ and textures etc, is it easy to import that stuff in Octane or does it give you fits? I haven't seen you post anything new, have you hit a snag with it? This is still out there as a possible purchase for me, I'm just saving my pennies up for it, so hopefully you don't mind my questions.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Sazariel In reply to Nythande [2012-01-06 15:34:29 +0000 UTC]

I haven’t had any trouble with importing the obj since I haven been working with it so far. I have to resize the textures to 50% since my video card doesn’t have enough memory to handle the larger texture images. If I don’t it will not. load so that’s the only problem I run into so far, but not the programs fault.

I’ve haven’t posted in a while since I was taking a bit of a break, muse ran away from me again. But I’ve actually been doing a few tests in Octane and I’ll post a few of them when I’m finished them up.

I don’t mind at all, ask as many questions and you like!

I've been putting off trying Octane but I might have to take a peek at it and give it a whirl.

Have you seen the previews of M5? I think he looks better than V5.

Sazariel In reply to Nythande [2012-01-07 11:41:55 +0000 UTC]

You should try the demo of Octane, I tried it before I bought it and got good results from it.

Yes I’ve seen M5 and really like how he looks, and I can’t wait to use him!

Nythande In reply to Sazariel [2012-01-07 20:35:29 +0000 UTC]

My one concern with M5 is the way the chest muscle just flows to the shoulder like one large bubble mass so if he's doing an arm lift and stretch, there is nothing there to separate the two areas if you know what I mean. I hope they can fix that. but that backside they showed... oh my...

They say M5 is a LONG way away from being ready, but we both know how what DAZ time is like. Soon is like several months away or tomorrow. M5 looking the way he did in those previews, a long way away from being ready is like HUH? he looks like he's going through final beta testing, something considered that far away shouldn't look that good So my money is March Madness ready...

Sazariel In reply to Nythande [2012-01-08 14:19:27 +0000 UTC]

Hopefully he will have some chest morphs, like what V5 came with. If not maybe it can be fixed by adding M4++ morphs with GenX, that what I use to fix Genesis chest to make it more manly.

I think they are off to a good start with M5, I did hear he might be released early this year. But he looks like he is almost done, so here is hoping to an early release!
