representations of three/dacolor scheme.
3 main renders connected with the lighting. (middle one is semi difficult to see due to the size)
the futuristic style. symbolic of 'the new style' of da
the large size can be symbolic of the large commnunity of da
the renders suprpassing the boders can be symbolic of growth within the community.
the chaos can well represent how cranky DA is being right now. terrible two's are very apparent on the servers.
theres more, but i don't want to spell it out for you.
other than that you people are being overly critical of your first glances. take your time and think it through. 3 was a very broad topic, and rather than choosing something simplistic to work with, i thought this through and intentionalyl made it difficult to diffuse why/how it relates to 3 and DA. rather than smother thing with useless vectors and hordes of threes, it's creative and forces you to think beyond a first glance. full view please for higher details.

time spent:about 2 weeks off and on. i originally never planned on posting it in the contest.
other info:i know everybody isn't going to comment on this, but i appreciate those who take the time. all comments will be returned, although often it takes me a few days to do it. critism is more than welcomed. oh... and for the judges, i'd like for this to be judged in indy-art.

OH One more thing. What's great about it is, I've seen that abstract 3-d stuff seriously proliferate to the point where anyone else who tries to do it is called a "trendwhore".
This is *not* trendwhorish. Yes, I see some 3d abstraction, but this doesn't even seem abstract to me: there definitely seems a story there. The story may change each time I look, but definitely, there's a story.

This is great.
It's great because it evokes things to me, for instance, the River Styx or some other river between this world and the next. I see something new in it each time I look at it; at first I thought it was a dragon on either side of a river.
I can't really think of much else to say about it; I'd offer critique but honestly if I didn't like it I would've not bothered saying anything, and I can't think how I'd do it better...

I see this kind of abstract work all the time, very complex, beautiful, caotic, eyecandy, and confusing. I would love to see a tutorial on how to do something like this from start to finish, including simular ones with small 2d text and lines. This is a really interesting piece. First off.. it is kinda hard to see the three different rndereings but fun to try and decifer where they start. Second off.. I love the metalic kinda metaly feel to this. Third off.. I love the lighting.. I prolly like this second to the metalic feel. All in all this is a great piece.

cool.piece i guess... but the first thing that strikes me is "sure it's green...but its not DA green" ... nice try with the attempt to justify this being a contest effort ... i'm thinking that a picture of a mass of twigs on a forest floor could offer "interpretations" as myriad ... as far as a trendy 3D goes..its pretty good

What bothers me about the picture is trying to interpret the three out of it, even though it is suppose to be the light. *Sits here staring at it for hours* Hmm, it's generally the style, as nice and elaborate as it is, I have to admit that I see too many almost identical copies of these type of pieces (most are like wallpapers though) (and I really need to nag one artist in this contest who keeps posting her dang cats! I've seen too many of them!). But it is nice the choice of colors, the light interaction, the different textures, and the line of text. I have nothing generally against it, but some people are just more bold with getting their message across, no offense intended.

Reading the description just made me think you were actually *searching* for meaning in it, rather than being inspired by it. But hey, that was just my take..

Sorry...I just don't get what all the fuss is about on these type of submissions. You've seen one, you've seen them all. Every now and then, someone creates an abstract that's different and original....but this just isn't it. It looks nice, but then again...doesn't everything look good when it's monochrome? It's big and complex looking in the thumbnail, but when I check out the full view...it's just...um...a big visual mess ( ) The 3 parts don't even seem to blend smoothly together - especially the bottom blobs.
As for the deeper meaning you listed in the details...
Give me a fucking break! Are you for real? That's either the dumbest thing I've ever heard....or the dumbest thing I've ever heard. I can't take any trendwhore abstract piece like this seriously when you want to apply that kind of meaning behind it. Maybe if I didn't see 50 of these a day...I might think you were genius....but since I do....I just think you threw this together, and made up some hokey underlying theme of "3" while you were taking your post-design bathroom break before uploading this.
I can see you have skills - how about showing us something original?
