Pretty sure they made him the Count or the Earl of Palancar Valley... lemme check... ah! here we go, page 779 ~ SPOILERS ~ The day after Ismira's birth, Nasuada summoned Roran to her throne room and surprised him by granting him the title of earl, along with the whole of Palancar Valley as his domain.

They seem to just have the one type of noble, all the Lord's are Earls if I remember correctly. So that's a hefty reward she gave him
