One of the Condescension's allies was the Grand Highblood, who lived in a remote alternian island, home of a viking settlement who worshipped a cult of mirthful messiahs and they were extremely bloodthirsty. He was their leader and in one of the celebrations of the cult, he raped and tried to kill a prostitute. She managed to escape and a few months later she gave birth to Gamzee. In order to avoid him being found by his father, he abandoned him on the alternian shore, praying for a plebeian to find him and raise him. He was raised by a old veteran artist and Gamzee soon learnt his steps.
