True! Well, as long as you don't let Picard (who himself was rescued and deBorged at great risk, despite having been the proximate cause of the death of thousands of Star Fleet personnel, because Some People matter) slaughter his way flippantly through his former subordinates after using them as Borg-delaying speed bumps, as in First Contact.... Then again, they walk like zombies, look like zombies, act like zombies, and were clearly included in the show in order to bring a zombie vibe while still making it "tech."
Alive or dead, I like Hugh. He's a real mensch and a nice guy. I also like that in the end the crew treated him as a person - indeed, a living being - even though he was the equivalent of a red shirt.
An interesting take on the living status and feelings of zombies, of course, is The Last Man on Earth with Vincent Price, being the earlier adaptation of I am Legend.

He's my favorite TNG character.
The "speed bumps" we're the TNG version of redshirts
Hugh: (now wearing a Spock uniform shirt) I'm not a redshirt! I'm not gonna die today!
