this is the original, uncropped photo i used for my latest dev id, i really like it and its the best one i think from last nights shoot.hopefully going to go out again tonight, been reading up in the Canon 350d manual on focus points so hoping to get some better shots tonight

Yeah sure. I took photos on holiday- one came out blue- completely blue!

A shallow DOF would have made this image much better, as there's too much going on around you. Definately a good start though, you've got the right idea about going out and shooting all the time.
