Y'know, I don't remember seeing any other artist depicting the physical changes of his fits/warp-spasms/whatever, with the one eye swelling out hugely and the other sinking deeply into his head, etc. etc.; I still find the translated details kinda silly from a modern point of view, but a professor read us that whole description in the original language and it was an absolutely amazing alliterative achievement of art--one of those things lost in translation, alas.
