Thank you, just when I remember I spend more time editing that video than actually painting this.

even for an exercise/experiment it's excellent. =] wonderfully silky fur and the places where the colours merge as well as the fur grain is very well done.

i'll keep this picture in mind the next time i try fur experiments. =]

Thanks, I'll experiment more, need to learn not to make lion's fur so silky.

i love it!! you always manage to put so much detail without flooding the eyes lots of distractions in the painting. i never really understood how to draw fur, do u happen to have a tutorial or know a tutorial about it?

Scheherazade2c In reply to ThePenTool [2010-04-18 07:14:04 +0000 UTC]

Thank you. As a matter of fact I'm making tutorial about painting lion eye and short fur around it. I'll probably post it today if I manage to finish it. For the longer fur you can see this one: [link]

6h53min .

It looks like you've successfully rendered the animal's fur. (Did you use the fur_fast tool or another one?) Tones and colours are realistic, I like it very much.

There's only one thing that puzzles me just a little, it's a matter of perspective. I think the King's left eye should be put slightly down and to the left of the picture -- they seem to be on a horizontal line but the animal is looking to the right.

Very good work anyway.

Scheherazade2c In reply to JAMsEye [2010-04-15 08:12:55 +0000 UTC]

Yes, it was fur_fast, I'm preparing a tutorial, the one that I said I would do.
Eyes, yes, something is wrong. I tried changing it but didn't look right, so I left it the way it is. Maybe I'll fix it, but right now I don't think I can put a single line on that image.
Thank for the feedback, you know I love them.

JAMsEye In reply to Scheherazade2c [2010-04-15 08:21:15 +0000 UTC]

You're very welcome -- I'm always a little reluctant on commenting like this since I'm pretty n00b . You can always try moving the eye with the iWarp tool. It saved me a couple of times so I thought I had to share that.

Mostly you don't hesitate to innovate and take challenges. I like that. Given the results that's very stimulating and guiding .

Thank you, I'm gonna try iWrap tool. Sharing knowledge is part of Linux philosophy isn't it.
It is scientist in me who likes experimenting and discovering new things.

TheShock [2010-04-15 07:35:45 +0000 UTC]

Wow! as for study is very very good quality work. But i have found that your fur is very soft for a lion character. Maybe in a cat it will be wonderful but in a lion.. i think you will do a wonderful job on the final piece, even this study is good .

take care

Scheherazade2c In reply to TheShock [2010-04-15 07:41:42 +0000 UTC]

Thanks for the feedback, that is what I wanted.
I notice that too, and I'm still experimenting with brushes to achieve not so soft fur for the lion.

Thanks, I wanted to make a lion without a reference and that's why this is an exercise. And I was experimenting with a way to mimic animal fur.
