Description I'm pretty sure all Nintendo fans are familiar with Miis. They Nintendo's avatar system that were brought to existance since the Wii released in 2006. They've been used for over 10 years, even still appearing to this day. Throughout those 10 years I've loved them to death and still do! However, lately I've seen Miis getting some overblown hatred out of absolutely NOWHERE!

Ever since Nintendo announced a while back that they're not carrying the Wii over to their new console, the Nintendo Switch (formerly known as the "NX"), there has been a number of fans who say that they want Nintendo to ditch the Miis for little to no reason at all! For those who are wondering, the Miis are, indeed, coming back as evidenced in the two links below, and I'm happy about that. But, why do they want them gone? Well, here's the reasons I've seen so far and why I STRONGLY disagree with them:

"Miis are ugly, childish, and annoying".

Okay, look. I respect your opinions, but I beg to differ. Miis are actually very quirky and charming characters. They're very fun to create and can appeal to anyone. Heck, I'm in my 20s and I still love the little guys!  I've even seen some people go as far to say that they won't buy the Nintendo Switch if Miis are on it. I'm sorry, but what?! You're seriously using that as a motive to not buy the Switch? That's incredibly stupid if you ask me.  Now, if you don't like Miis, that's fine, but come on! They're not being shoved down your throat THAT much. Grow up already and get used to it.  Plus, it wouldn't be fair for those who love the Miis (like I do). Not to mention it's hypocritical that people want Miis to go away, yet they'll clamour for characters like Princess Daisy or the Ice Climbers to get more attention. That makes no sense. Try thinking about how Mii fans (like me) would feel if they did go away.

And, the most mentioned reason:

"Miis are native to the Wii, so Nintendo should get rid of everything 'Wii-related', including the Miis".

Umm, no. Miis are not native to the Wii. Yes, they were born on the Wii, but ever since then they've made over a dozen appearances outside of the Wii. For instance, they appeared on the Nintendo 3DS, and that system doesn't have the "Wii" brand (I'm talking about the brand when I say this, NOT era). So, basically, people are saying they should be gone just because "Mii" sounds like "Wii". I don't see how that's good reason, honestly. Considering they're FAR from the Wii era, why not just think of "Mii" as a clever misspelling of "Me" instead of "Wii"? They've also appeared on many websites, commercials, non-Wii games, social media apps, and all. Face it. They're not a part of the "Wii" brand anymore. They're practically their own IP by now. Nintendo might as well give them an IP name: the "Mii" series. Plus, without Miis, we wouldn't get great games like "Wii Sports", "Wii Party" "Wii Sports Resort", "Pilotwings Resort", "Nintendo Land", or "Tomodachi Life". That would be a ton of potential thrown out the window and a bad move from Nintendo if you ask me.

Also, here's proof that they're not going away:

Overall, I still love Miis and I hope Nintendo never gets rid of them, because they're Nintendo staples, are just as important as the likes of Mario in my book. They've grown as one of my favorite Nintendo characters of all time and still have a very special place in my heart.

Favorite and comment if you'd like.

EDIT: Nintendo has officially confirmed that Miis and the Mii Maker app are returning to the Nintendo Switch here! kotaku.com/nintendo-answers-an…

Did you know that they were first made on a DS (not The WII, the Original DS)? OwO

either way, I grew up with Nintendo so I definitely support the MIIs (I’m 16 currently)

i also love love how they put MIIs into Smash 4 (aka Smash WII U/3DS) (also when I liked Smash)

I support and love Mii characters too, and I'm glad Nintendo added them in the Switch system. I've played a mobile app called Miitomo, sadly they shut it down last year in May, it was actually fun. Also, very sad they also closed the Miiverse community.

I agree that the Miis are not in the "Wii series" brand anymore, the Miis became some sort of official Nintendo avatars, sure they first appeared in the Wii in 2006, but everything has to start somewhere, I guess? I respect opinions, but I would be extremely disappointed if Nintendo one day ditched the Mii characters in future consoles. Miis are easy to create and most of them are cute and actually funny, they allow us to make our own stories like in Tomodachi Life. My favorite Mii game is definitively Miitopia on the 3DS, and if Miis had disappeared, we wouldn't have this game.

I'm really happy to find someone that shares this love for these characters!

WHAT!?!?!?!? So you're saying people actually HATE Miis? Oh hell no! I FUCKING love the mii feature because I can make my own characters on there!

there was a social media app called Miitomo that launched on 3/31/2016, but it lasted only 2 years because they ended their services 16 days ago, and I'm feeling VERY upset about it because I can't make pictures (known as Miifotos) or interact with my sidekicks, including my favorite one! (his name was Tito.)

I remember looking at that video. It adds to my reasoning why Nintendo should keep the Miis.

What I love most about Miis is creating a collection of CPU Miis, mostly on a Wii.
If you don't know what a CPU Mii is, they're Miis created by Nintendo that are automatically selected by CPUs in Wii Sports and Wii Party

I don't know why. I mean I love using my Miis on Wii, 3DS, and Wii U games. Thank God Nintendo Switch will have a Mii Maker.

I'm glad the Miis are staying, too. I love creating them and seeing them appear in my games. Plus, I use my Mii frequently, too. #Miis4Life !
