hi jared's really fun to draw

i usually have really saturated and pink pictures with a lot of passion and joy pulsing through them (at least, i think i do) so i wanted to try something a little different and lighter, with some more mellow, greyish bluish purplish tones so that you wouldn't feel the urge to vomit immediately because of bright colors or something.

i mean, it's still pretty bright with my usual style and all (that involves textures and pink stuff and whatever) but this was really calming to draw and color, i liked it <3

anyways does anyone else absolutely loath the way most of the deh fanbase treats jared?

jared may be an ungrateful, rude and cocky asshole to most and all, and possibly indirectly assisted in connors suicide. but that does not make him nothing but a shallow prick that vores bathbombs and screams out memes.
jared is as complex a character as everyone else in dear evan hansen; he obviously shows terrible ways to cope with self-hatred and uncertainty, and he takes out his own problems on the people around him. evan would never really know how much he means to jared, as jareds one and only friend, because jared wouldn't let himself understand how much he loves him (romantically or platonically i don't care, lmao).

the same goes for alana and zoe! alana has obvious signs of anxiety and depression, yet just because it's expressed in a more subtle way (unlike evans, which is obvious and loud) she's just 'cocky and smart.'
jesus fucking christ stop flattening out blattenly complex and deep characters. you're taking away the entire meaning of the show itself!

it seems as if this fandom only pays attention to connor and evan's disorders and problems, and even then, they're fetishized to look 'cutesy UwU'
(for example: evan's severe social anxiety and depression is turned into simple 'nervousness' and 'cute shy pastel gay bab UwU' and connors depression, paranoia and BPD are basically ignored ):^()
