-Protagonists of surreal, genre-defying work who's characters are defined by their flawed view of maturity and their attempts to understand it's significance in growing up and moving on from past experiences.
-After a meeting with a color-haired woman who serves as their primary love interest they become intrinsically connected to a pool of energy that allows objects and people to cross space and time (subspace and N.O channel).
-This pool resides within their very being and is often weaponized into an overloading mental force that echoes their personal demons.
-Both are associated with guitars and occasionally use them in battle.
-Both battle through a gauntlet of six enemies sent after them by a mysterious organization whom their bright-haired love interest has a prior knowledge off.
-Both have a complicated romantic history, the presence of their bright-haired love interest distracting them from their bizarre "romance" with an eccentric schoolgirl. (You can form a kind of connection web here linking Ninamori, Haruko and Mamimi to Envy, Knives, Kim and Ramona. There are multiple ways you can connect each to each but I think Haruko to Ramona and Mamimi to Knives is the way to go in terms of solid connection)
-Both fight using powers drawn from their inner-portals, typically symbolizing their banishment of their personal demons.
-Both harness incredible power from within as they truly learn to understand themselves and their flaws, using these abilities to defeat a manipulative antagonist who they nevertheless parallel due to shared wants and faults.
-Both live in a small, familiar town and have not seen much outside of it, which is noted by both the characters around them and they themselves.
-Both series contain a meta-musical motif that reflects on them.
do you ever have just those moments where you look at one of your old thumbnail and you couldn't vibe with it so you just remake it. Yeah I just did that. Nothing to really say here on this matchup like I did previously but this matchup has just so much amazing analysis and animation potential to be a really good death battle imo.
rooting for both
I used to bet on scott but now I'm betting on naota since most of scott haxes are non standard in the subspace or the glow since he's never shown he had access too and also even if we were to composite scott from the games making him continental level. Naota form red naota has surprisingly higher with atomsk scaling who was capable of moving stars which makes naota at least star level.
