This painting sure took a long time to finish. Drawn with a Wacom Graphire3 pen tablet, in Photoshop CS6. I lost track of time, but it's probably around 12 hours. I ended up with about 100 layers in Photoshop. The parachute was by far the hardest part.
I used cloud brushes by yuumei and foliage brushes by dierat .

It might be a nightmare for volcanoes are violent when they explode, especially not just lava it spews, but flying rocks at high speed.

Also, holy freakin' crap, Scoot looks cute. I know you probably placed her under a parachute in a volcanic setting 'cause it looked cool, which I've got no problem with--it's risky but man, could she get some air by gliding up to that thing's mouth--but I'm wondering if there's some kinda in-verse (not necessarily canon!) background for this pic; if I could, I'd write something for it, but I dunno if I could make it compelling or exciting to read, plus fanfiction isn't exactly permitted for this contest, so I'm wondering what you'd think.

Well, honestly I just tried to throw as many 'adventurous' things into one picture as I could. The original sketch also featured a pirate ship, but I ran out of time/space/patience to add it into the final version. So -- I don't have any background story for this picture. Feel free to think up your own!

With or without the text, this looks really cool. I like the detail on the parachute canopy. ('Course I'm the only one to pay attention to that...)

I *think* it was revealed/implied that her wings are impaired, so in effect, she's not going to be able to fly. Ever. Not sure, though.
