Your bell-like laughter filtered through the door, nothing could mute or take away from the sound. As it reached his ears he slowly woke up, clawing his way out the suffocating darkness. He jerked awake when he felt that your side of the bed was cold. Where did she go? You weren't next to him like usual until he remembered what exactly it was that pulled him out of his nightmare. Another peal of laughter came through the now ajar doorway as you peeked your head in.

"Are you awake yet?" you asked with a good-natured smile. He couldn't help but smile with you, easily forgetting what had worried him just a few seconds ago just by seeing your care-free demeanor. He nodded as he got out of bed. You turned around and headed away from the room, leading him to the kitchen. He finally caught up to you just outside of the kitchen.

He suddenly stopped as he remembered the dream. It couldn't possibly be considered a dream, more of a nightmare. His eyes clouded at the memory but shook his head to clear the dark thoughts and promptly enveloped the object of his affections with a hug from behind. You tensed in surprise but let loose a string of nervous giggles at his odd behavior. You held his hands gently in your own as he whispered to you, "Thank you. Thank you… for everything." He wouldn't let you go so instead you turned your head slightly so you could see him properly and gave him another one of your infectious smiles to dispel whatever worry he had; he took up your silent plea, kissing the side of your head as a promise and steered you both into the beginning of a new day.
